Information about the future direction of STAR WARS toys, action figures and collectibles is being broken at the San Diego Comic Convention. With a host of STAR WARS fansites in attendance at this year's con, the internet is in no shortage of con coverage.
First up, the official STAR WARS website has posted an encapsulation of what was shown at the Hasbro STAR WARS panel. A new figure is being added to the STAR WARS UNLEASHED lineup: the assassin droid IG-88, walking through a sheet of flame with its blaster raised.
Shortly before EPISODE III opens in theaters, more 3 3/4-inch figures will go on sale. Action figures for Wookie Senator Yarua, Chancillor aide Sly Moore, alien Jedi Knight Pablo Jill, Padme Amidala in ceremony dress, her handmaiden Rabe and three Mos Eisley aliens from A NEW HOPE will come out.
Four new figures in the CLONE WARS series will go on sale in the spring of 2005, among them the first figure of General Grievous, the Jedi killer we'll get to see in EPISODE III.
Finally, an assortment of three new two-packs of GALACTIC HEROES will ship next year. These STAR WARS figures, suggested for kids aged 3 to 7, take the characters from the films and cute 'em up. The best assembly of photos online for this line are at Rebel Scum and can be found here. Just try to keep in mind that these guys were the most feared shocktroops in the Empire -- and they'll soon be available in a two-pack assortment. Awww!
