Comic-Con Pitch 2005: 'Sally Samson: Super-Sitter'

By Rob M. Worley     July 08, 2005

It's less than a week untilComic-ConInternational in San Diego continues and Comics2Film is here withanother tip for producers who will be heading down to the show lookingfor the next coolness.

Today Aaron Sowd slings thescoop on "Sally Samson: Super Sitter".

Q: Describe "Sally Samson:Super Sitter" in two sentences or less.

"Sally Samson: Super Sitter" is set in a world of breakneck baby-sitting whereevery kid has all of their parent's powers and none of their responsibilities!Sally is the daughter of Samson and Delilah and has inherited her father'sstrength (provided she doesn't cut her hair) and her mother's wily ways.

Q: If you were to compare"Sally Samson: Super Sitter" to a movie or TV show what would it be?

When you've got a show about asuper-powered teen-age baby-sitter taking care of the super-powered kids, youcan draw a lot of comparisons, like 'Spy Kids', 'The Incredibles', 'Buffy theVampire Slayer' and, of course, 'Adventures in Baby-sitting'. But I think Sallystands on her own as a story about trying togrow up normal in a very weird world.

Q: Why do you think"Sally Samson: Super Sitter" would translate to film/TV/animation?

'Sally Samson: Super Sitter'first appeared in 'Komikwerks Vol. 4: Rockets and Robots'. We've created acomedic world full of super heroes and their kids, but at the core it'ssimply a coming-of-age story about an awkward girl and her place in thatworld. It easily scales up or down depending on the medium.Everyone can identify with being the baby sitter or the baby-sat!
