It's the week of Comic-Con! Here's the latest installment of COMIC-CON PITCH 2006, in which Comics2Film endeavors to connect indie comics creators with Hollywood producers.
Shannon Eric Denton...we can't get rid of the guy! He's back, giving his Comic-Con pitch for COMMON FOE
Q: Describe COMMON FOE in two sentences or less.
Shannon Denton (SD): COMMON FOE continues this summer from DESPERADO/IMAGE COMICS. Created by Eisner Winner Keith Giffen and critically acclaimed writer Shannon Eric Denton.
THE PITCH: World War Two. Amid the disruptive chaos of the Battle of the Bulge, a besieged squad of American GIs and a platoon of German infantry do everything in their power to wipe each other out, but as darkness falls, these two groups find they must unite if they are to survive the night. The combined units have now become the prey for an ancient evil and it will take everything they have to survive against the common foe.
Q: If you were to compare COMMON FOE to a movie or TV show what would it be?
SD: It's BLACK HAWK DOWN meets ALIENS. We've got the non-stop action, we've got the horror.
Q: Why do you think COMMON FOE would translate to film/TV/animation?
SD: It's the most frenzied and frenetically paced thing we've ever done. This things starts bloody and just gets progressively worse. It's not about making the best of a bad situation, it's about surviving it.
Q: Why should movie folks seek you out at Comic-Con?
SD: Keith Giffen and I have a pretty good track record of creating properties that Hollywood likes. Talk to Circle of Confusion. We get things going. Oh, and Entertainment Weekly covered and liked the book so ya can't beat that.
Q: How can folks find you at Comic-Con (please provide booth number and additonal contact info)?
SD: I'll be at the Komikwerks/Actionopolis booth 2302. Hope to see everyone there!
