Comic-Con Pitch: MASTERMINDS

By Rob M. Worley     July 13, 2004

It's just over a week away: Comic-ConInternational in San Diego! Hollywood will be coming to the show, andComics2Film aims to help Hollywood find the good stuff.

Today comic-creator andactivist Aaron Sowd pitches "MasterMinds",the comic he created with Lance Karutz and JamesDenning.

Q: Describe 'MasterMinds'in two sentences or less.

Sowd: Five freakish felons have only one thing standing between them and globaldomination - each other!

Q: If you were to compare 'MasterMinds'to a movie, TV show (or movies or TV shows) what would it be?

Sowd: MasterMindsis most easily explained as "Pinky and the Brain" meets "JusticeLeague."

Q: Why do you think 'MasterMinds'would translate to film/TV/animation?

Sowd: MasterMinds was actually created with the intent of becoming an animated series. When the opportunity arose to do a comic book, we thought it would translatewell to the printed page. You can check us out in Dan Taylor's "Hero HappyHour Special" and in "Komikwerks" Vols. 1 and 3.

Q: Why should movie folks come by your Comic-Con booth?

Sowd: Movie folks should stop by our booth because we're smart, we're fresh and wehave many exciting properties to choose from. We're like the Baja Fresh ofentertainment. Without the tacos.

We're MasterMinds Unlimited:Aaron Sowd, Lance Karutz and James Denning. We'll be at table G-1. Come see usat the G-spot! Then again, no one can ever find the G-spot...

Are you a comics creatorattending Comic-Con with a conceptHollywood should check out? E-mail your responses to the four questions above, along with your booth number, to news@comics2film.comand we'll try to send them over.
