It's just over a week away: Comic-ConInternational in San Diego! Hollywood will be coming to the show, andComics2Film aims to help Hollywood find the good stuff.

Vito Delsante wants Hollywoodto know about his comic "The Mercury Chronicles".

Q: Describe "The Mercury Chronicles" and its lead character, Mr. Mercury, in two sentences or less.

Delsante: Two sentences???  The Mercury Chronicles is the story of Gabriel Storm, our hero Mr. Mercury.  Imagine if Indiana Jones was a member of the BPRD...or if The Shadow solved X-File cases...throw in some humor.  Now set it all between 1938 and 1947 and you have our story.

Q: If you were to compare "The Mercury Chronicles" to a movie, TV show (or movies or TV shows) what would it be?

Delsante: Other than the few mentioned above, I would say that "TMC" is similar to Quantum Leap, Band of Brothers, and Crime Story...all rolled into one.  The beauty of the story is that it is a cross-genre property.  It'll have something for everyone!

Q: Why do you think "The Mercury Chronicles" would translate to film/TV/animation?

Delsante:  The success of Spider-Man and even Hellboy shows that audiences today want someone they can relate to.  Gabriel Storm is an everyman...more so than any other character in Hollywood today.  Anyone can see themselves in his predicaments.  Plus, it works on a grand scale of every great Hollywood movie.  If you liked "Saving Private Ryan," you'll love issue 3.  If you like "Star Wars," you'll dig issue 4.  Being a pop culture junkie, I've done my best to appeal to the audience while telling a bigger story about love and family.  This is, without a doubt, a huge story and Hollywood loves a complex story...right?

Q: Why should movie folks come by your Comic-Con booth?

Delsante: Because I'm a livewire!  Because they'll meet the artist, Jim Muniz, who is about to knock everyone's socks off on Marvel Knights: 4!  And because we'll be giving away posters and selling ashcans!  We've been picked up by Image Comics, so we will be in their section at booth #1434. We're going to have fun all weekend!  In all seriousness, we're very excited to have the opportunity to do our comic, especially with Image.  Right now we're focused on that, but if anyone asks, I'll give my casting choices in a heartbeat!
