Comic-Con Pitch: OMEGA MAN

By Rob M. Worley     July 12, 2004

It's just over a week away: Comic-ConInternational in San Diego! Hollywood will be coming to the show, andComics2Film aims to help Hollywood find the good stuff.

Today comic-creator andactivist Alonzo Washington pitches his comic "Omega Man."

Q: Describe 'OmegaMan'in two sentences or less.

Washington: OmegaMan is a time traveling super hero from the future who protects the past frombeing altered by shape shifting aliens who plan to dominate the planet in thefuture by changing history. Omega Man is a Black super hero done right.

Q: If you were to compare 'OmegaMan'to a movie, TV show (or movies or TV shows) what would it be?

Washington: Omega Man isunlike anything out there. However, it does have the same trappings of StarWars, Star Trek, I Robot, Terminator, Aliens & the Matrix meets Super Man& Dragon Ball Z.

Q: Why do you think 'OmegaMan'would translate to film/TV/animation?

Washington: The worldis looking for a Black super hero done with dignity & honor. A Black SuperHero done with as much respect as Super Man & Spider Man would be a greathit and new for Hollywood. Omega Man can educate with time travel, dazzle withspecial effects & uplift with great morality. Sometimes the stories aresemi-funny & they are always controversial. Omega Man would make history.

Q: Why should movie folks come by your Comic-Con booth?

Washington: I won'thave a booth at Comic-Con. However, I will be an attending professional withplenty of samples. I can be reached on my cell phone at: (913) 488-4365 orproducers can set up a meeting by calling: (913) 321-6764. Omega Man is the onlyBlack comic book super hero that has been published for (12) years. He has beenan action figure & bobblehead. He has a true legacy without riding the coattails of the White super heroes. I will be in San Diego helping to bringattention to missing child as well. Omega Man has true roots in the Blackcommunity nationally. Hot Black actors like Will Smith, Vin Diesel, DenzelWashington & The Rock cold be considered for the role. The movie would be apure smash! Omega Man is such an underground success many mainstream Black superheroes have taken on his look. Example: Green Lantern & Bishop.

Alonzo Washingtonwill be presenting attending Comic-Con and reachable through his phone numbers above, or by e-mail at Omega7toys@aol.comand on the web at
