Comic-Con Pitch: Tabula Rasa by Denton and Giffen

By Rob M. Worley     July 19, 2006

It's the week of Comic-Con! Here's the latest installment of COMIC-CON PITCH 2006, in which Comics2Film endeavors to connect indie comics creators with Hollywood producers.

Shannon Eric Denton just won't quit! He returns to the Pitch Panel again, with yet another bankable concept: TABULA RASA

Q: Describe TABULA RASA in two sentences or less.

TABULA RASA by Shannon Denton, Keith Giffen

Shannon Denton (SD): TABULA RASA debuts this summer from DESPERADO/IMAGE COMICS. Created by Eisner Winner Keith Giffen and critically acclaimed writer Shannon Eric Denton.

THE PITCH: A dying cop has his soul transported into the body of a near unstoppable golem and must enact vengeance on those that killed him within seven days or lose his soul forever,... but first he has to figure out who killed him.

Q: If you were to compare TABULA RASA to a movie or TV show what would it be?

SD: It's UNBREAKABLE meets DOA. We've got the non-stop action, we've got the mystery and the arcane.

Q: Why do you think TABULA RASA would translate to film/TV/animation?

SD: This one works great for either TV or film. You've got action the character is compelled to take and it's got a continual ticking clock that resets itself every seven days. Oh, and Image Comics gave us a big "Awww Yeah!"

Q: Why should movie folks seek you out at Comic-Con?

SD: Keith Giffen and I have a pretty good track record of creating propertiesthat Hollywood likes. Talk to Circle of Confusion. We get things going.

Q: How can folks find you at Comic-Con (please provide booth number and additonal contact info)?

SD: I'll be at the Komikwerks/Actionopolis booth 2302. Hope to see everyone there!
