Everyone be sure to check out Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer! My good buddy Dusty Higgins came up with the idea and drew it.

Wednesday brings a giant load of Blackest Night, which I would have been crazy excited about a few months ago but just can’t get any enthusiasm for any more. Is it just me or has event fatigue become super brutal? I’m reading books because I feel like I have to, not because I want to. Not a good sign.
The good news? There is plenty more awesome available this week, as shown below in a little list we like to call…
10) Grimm Fairy Tales Halloween Special 2009
Buy it for the cover, keep it for a Zenescope twist on the Monkey’s Paw.
9) Worlds Finest #1
8) Avengers Initiative #29
Tigra is a… TOTAL BADASS!?!
7) Arkham Reborn #1
Because Batman without Arkham is like me without crabs.
6) FVZA #1
In the immortal words of Mania’s own Chad Derdowski, “ Pretty good despite having a terrible title" .
5) New Avengers #58
The Hood strikes back with his new Loki powers while Luke Cage tries not to die.
4) Nova #30
Just a great book every single month.
3) Secret Warriors #9
Now that I understand who that kid is I am hooked.
2) Ultimate Comics Avengers #3
Spoilers – Not really going to put any here, but if you’re reading this you know the awesome that is this series and the craziness of the newest badguy.
1a) Wolverine Old Man Logan HC
Nothing original here at all, it’s just better than it ever has been before. Read it collected and laugh at everyone who waited months between issues.
1b) Pinocchio Vampire Slayer
Yep, I went there.

Everyone be sure to check out Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer! My good buddy Dusty Higgins came up with the idea and drew it.
Redhairs99 -
Ben here. Thanks for pointing this one out a few weeks ago. I hunted down issue one and loved it. Looking forward to reading the whole thing in trade.
See everyone - I do take your suggestions seriously (except for the Street Fighter guy because I'm not reading Manga).
I'm still buying Blackest Night. But I have to agree. The foot is off the gas pedal with it with the reveal. I'm a little curious at the after affects of this mini series. I mean if any of the Corps survive does that mean all the fighting and villains will only be the other Corps fighting each other. Sinestro war was awsome but it would take away a great story if all we see is match-up after match-up.
I'm going to look for that Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer tonight. Got my interest.
Re: Blackest Night... I must have missed who’s REAALLLYY behind it all... who wazzat? The reason it seems underwhelming is it took about 12 months to start and about 3 more months to get up to speed and now we are going to endure even more time before it ends, what with the skip month and all. If the entire story had been three issue released in a timely fashion, it would seem more compelling.
Hulk/Rulk/Skaarrrr is so bad that they are retroactively making me dislike everything Hulk ever.
Avengers Initiative: it was awful. Then it got better. Then it relapsed. Nice that Tigra has a home.
Dark Avengers Ares: Marvel should do something to make me like this character at least slightly.
Dark Reign The List: They better start checking shit off these lists before the Siege starts.
Dark Reign Young Avengers: God can we please just have a Young Avengers series? What’s the holdup?
Fantastic Four: At least now I don’t cringe to look at it, but I’m not thrilled either.
Guardians of the Galaxy: I love this book, but hated the last issue.
Incredible Hercules: Best Marvel book out there.
Marvel Holiday Spectacular 2009: I remember when these seemed special. Like 35 years ago...
Ms. Marvel: The only thing worse than one generic chick with big boobs is three generic chicks with big boobs.
New Avengers: I forget what’s even happening in this book.
New Mutants: Necrosha will end quickly, right? Right??
Punisher: Sooooo what’s this book gonna be about? Ten issues in and it’s all just Dark Rahne stuff. What’s up when that ends?
Secret Warriors: Infinite potential. Molassas progress.
Son of Hulk: Sorry, Marvel. This character is just never going to be relevant.
War Machine: Another book born out of Darque Rain that doesn’t seem to have a clue about where it’s going.
Feeling harsh this week... no patience...
Lister,
In the future do you think you could go into some detail? That short post doesn't help me know what you really think :)
I'm with you on a lot, especially the Hulk thing. Always one of my favorites but I don't know if I'll ever be able to read it again. Just a bunch of garbage. I don't see how editorial doesn't see it for what it is and just pull the plug on this crap. Retcon back to just after WWH and go some where interesting with the character. Why did we have a world conquering badass, leader of the people turn into a slobbering idiot again? Completely destroyed years of character building and made everything that came before totally pointless. And the Red Hulk? I'll get banned on mania if I write what I think of that.
Wow, ranting is a disease that is catching.
Sorta getting a little tired of Blackest night myself. I mean, what is the end result going to be? I honestly can't see how these books are going to be interesting after this is all said and done with either. I guess since I have stuck with it this long, I will see it to the end, but I am growing tired of it pretty quickly.
I also must have missed it. Who was the big reveal?
Detective comics just really is horrible. I think that DC should scrap Batwoman. I tried picking it up and couldn't even get through an issue. Just total Drek.
Does anyone know what is going on with this Image crossover? Is it going to be worth getting? Is anyone here getting it?
MILD SPOILER for Blackest Night:
Turns out the reveal is so underwhelming for those not steeped in DC and GL lore that I was left just kinda "whothefunkizat"? The answer I found at Wikipedia wasn't enough to get me psyched. Maybe some Lanternite would be into it tho.
Sadly, Blackest Night, once the origin is revealed, its lost some glamour, and now knowing who is REAALLLYY behind it, meh
