With the DVD release coming this week and a return to the big screen in January, 'The Dark Knight' is a hot topic once more. Here's a roundup of the latest buzz on the most successful superhero movie of all time.

Nolan says a DARK KNIGHT sequel can wait

Christopher Nolan is out promoting the debut of 'The Dark Knight' on DVD and Blu-Ray. Naturally he's fielding a lot of questions about the inevitable sequel.

"I don't know why [sequels are] hard to do," Nolan told USA Today in a recent interview. "Maybe there's so much expectation to them. But I wouldn't want to do one if it weren't going to be as good as the first or second. That's not respectful to the fans."

Noland revealed he's begun thinking about an outline for the third movie, but he's far from moving forward with developing it, in spite of Warner Bros eagerness to strike while the Batman iron is white hot.

"It was obvious when the box office was so big that we had underestimated how ready fans were to reboot the franchise," he says. "The worst thing you could do now that you've gotten the plane back in the air is mess up the landing."

Heath Ledger honored by Aussie film institute

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the late actor Heath Ledger has been given the Australian Film Institute international award for best actor, for his mesmerizing performance as the Joker in 'The Dark Knight'.

The award was conferred on him at a ceremony in Melbourne's Princess Theater. Apparently the crowd there "rose to their feet clapping, but with some in tears, to pay tribute to the actor."

His sister Kate accepted the award with an emotional speech.

I know this won't stop the rumors but it really should stop all the talk about who the next bad guy is going to be.  If Nolan is just making an outline in his head anything can happen.  I refuse to believe any of the rumors until Nolan confirms who its going to be.

I have said this before - I don't look for another Bat film until 2011 or even 2012. Nolan is a talented director and he loves to team with his brother to make movies like momento and the prestige with his brother so I think he will make a few films like that before he makes B3

Nolan show these cats how a mindblowing, awe inspiring, world shattering Part 3 is done!

It is very good that we have a filmmaker who is well aware of the 3rd Movie Curse and is taking his time to do it right.

Though we probably can't wait 'til after 2012. The world is scheduled to end by then :-o

I think that it's excellent that he's taking his time...that also shows that he's not as interested in the money as some others would be...he wants to go out with the franchise asa definitive franchise, like we used to talk about when Star Wars was young. I think that he should make some other movies in the middle of the third installment. In the Prestige, he even used Bale and Caine in the role to keep them relevant to in his world.

The right story is going to have to come along and then its going to have to fit what's going on in Nolan's Batman world. Since it's set in such a realistic setting, it's going to take some time to get the right story and actors together to make it make sense.

We're going into 2009, that gives at least 2011 or 2012 for the final chapter?

It's ok, monkeyfoot, the world's not scheduled to end until Dec. 2012, so that gives us plenty of time that summer to enjoy Nolan's final bow with The Batman.

You all realize he could be done with Batman. And he isnt about the money could be true but considering how much he is still making its not like he needs to care about money. If WB drops the ball and does not do DC right aka the JLA rumors and that rangeless nothing Bouncey Knowless who runed Etta James. Her ass hat father's clueless blindspot actually believes she could be Wonder Woman and is trying to make it a race issue.

But Joker could be the guy from CHANGELING  who chops the kids up.

If Heath Ledger does not get an academy award  nomination, it will be a travisty of justice.

I am glad they are going to take their time to make this movie. There was three years in between Begins and TDK so that I don't mind waiting another three years for the next one especially since they are committed to quality. One of the things that will be cool to see is how they build off of the ending of Dark Knight. It will be cool to see Batman as kind of public enemy No. 1 that is until the new villian comes to town. More than likely it will have to be Penguin or the Riddler because I don't know how many of the other members of Batman's Rogues Gallery would fit into Nolan's more realistic take on Bats. Catwoman would work, but I don't think there is a way to build the movie simply around her. I would love to see Two Face come back although they have already said that he is dead. Whomever the villian ends up being it will be awesome. I would love to see the Mad Hatter on the big screen, but like I said I don't know how that would work.
