Matt Haley reacts to BUCK ROGERS

Remember Frank Miller's first teaser poster for 'The Spirit'? Well, at least one person  wonders if the new 'Buck Rogers' movie might look something like this:

Matt Haley whipped up this BUCK ROGERS poster, done in the style of Frank Miller

No...That is NOT Frank Miller's work. Rather, a reaction to Friday's news by comic creator and filmmaker, Mr. Matt Haley.

On a cheerier note, we've also got a copy of the DC Comics holiday card, also drawn by Haley.

Getting in THE SPIRIT at premiere

Didn't get out to the Hollywood premiere of 'The Spirit' last week? Variety has you covered with a brief commentary and photos.

Some interesting quotes:

Lionsgate production prexy Michael Paseornek: "Most movies based on comicbooks are interpretations. This is shot in the way you read a comicbook with all the impact and power."

Producer Deborah Del Prete: "This is a comicbook movie where the visual art is up on the screen. The stylized look is so key."

Actor Samuel L. Jackson: "He told me I could play it as large as I wanted. After that I was going for Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes."

Ok Sunshine is not a great sci fi film. It is good but it takes to many scenes from The best film ever made (2001) and great movies like 2010, Alien and Solaris. And yes I do mean 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is theBEST FILM EVER MADE not just best sci fi film ever made.

That company good do Dredd some serious justice. I dont think Stallone was bad but the story was weak for the great set designs and capable actors involved with the 1995 film.

Judge Dredd will hopefully have a British accent. And While Daniel craig would be awesome I doubt that can happen. I can see Vinny Jones in the role. He cheesed up Juggernaut in Xlax 3 in a way that he had a future psychic link to a dancing Emo freak like Totem Pole LeBouf in Spiderpig 3. But watching him slaughter people in Midnight Meat Train showed some some true grit. If he can deliver his lines righjt(with the help of a good acting coach) Vinny could be to Dredd what Snipes is to Blade. Hopefully thr brits wont bow to popularity and cast Ewan MacGregor , Colin Ferrell or Cillian Murphy as Dredd. All 3 are great actors but dont really have a Dredd quality about them. Of course they are actors and these are just some ideas for the role. But it would be interesting to hear British fanboy's ideas for the project.

And as for the villain, skip the origin and give us some NC17 brutality with
