@ SinisterPryde Very true, a slight alteration to the history and this conversation could be very different. It really is a hard to define issue. The Days of Future Past thing is VERY interesting!

@gauleyboy420 I hope you get your response posted, I do really appreciate the conversation.

@jedibanner thanks for you passion, and keeping this debate going.

@Joelr: I AM actually looking forward to the art. Disregarding other issues that are hanging on, the art is going to be sweet.

I'm going to get it when it hits the trade.

CaptAmerica04 6/6/2012 2:50:43 PM

I didn't buy this because it didn't need to happen.  At all.  Ever.

I think that comic fans need to stage a financial uprising, withholding their comic-buying dollars and instead investing them in Marvel or DC and stage a financial coup.  Take back the companies that we love from money-grubbing douche bags like Dan Didio and Avi Arad who see nothing but dollar signs when they look at comics.

gauleyboy420 6/6/2012 4:14:10 PM

Cap, the thing is a lot of comics fans are psyched about this.

joelr, still cant get it to post

tjanson 6/6/2012 4:46:32 PM

Hey Cap...of course they see dollar signs...It's a BUSINESS!  What do you want them to see?  Pretty little butterflies?  Their whole goal is to make money for their stockholders.  and listen, boycotts do not work...ever.  Bottom line is I don't see what gets people so excited.  If you don't like the idea then don't buy it.

Jedi ... simmer down man ... remember to meditate! we want BRUCE not the monster :)

Am not a big big fan of the original so will buy the trade if it gets good reviews ...

As for AM ... not sure why DC didnt get on his good side??? Anyone know what happened? If he wrote for DC again - damn that would be sweet - imagine how much more money DC would make than this prequel.

Also ... wasn't there a mini series in the past "who killed the minute men?" ... i saw the ad when i was little ... the minute men come back to solve a murder ... their own! ... am i talking out of my a##? ... must be a different series

SinisterPryde 6/6/2012 8:39:13 PM

vitieddie- I don't know if it's the whole reason for the split but I do know that Alan Moore was supposed to get control of the rights to Watchmen after it went out of print.  This sounded good until Mr. Moore realized that Watchmen was never going out of print.  I am sure there were other things going on since Alan Moore write The Killing Joke two years later.

This also brings up another point.  If that is a correct assessment of the basic problem with his contract, how does this new series affect that?  Is the contract only if the original goes out of print?  If it does and these stay in print then does he get the rights for these as well?  Or does the contract state that as long as any Watchmen product is being produced (much like the Wonder Woman contract)?
