Comixology Adds Image Comics App With A Slew Of New Releases

Marvel, DC Comics and more as well

    August 27, 2010

It's a new week and Comxology has updated its digital pull list with what's available from the company, both through its individual apps for the iPhone, iPad and its web browsing site (though Marvel books are still unavailable through the web format). Each week the company adds new books across three days, with Marvel then DC Comics and other books and we'll take a look at what the publishers are offering for free and what they're pricing for everything else.

What's new this week of note is that Image Comics now has its own app, though Image books are not new to Comixology. What we do have is a number of new titles from them and some significant runs of titles and compilation volumes/graphic novels for some of the series. So there will definitely be some backlisted material making its way in this week, but if you're new to Comixology and iPad comics, or getting them via the website, there's a whole lot to like this week for Image fans. Image does some good stuff here with some good sized runs, though some like Darkness is awkward with multiple volumes, but we also get 71 issues of Invincible in one release which is good for those who want the title.

Sorry, but I like my comics on PAPER and with nice LARGE splash pages. I guess it's good to have when you're on the go or if you are going on a road trip, but it will never take the place of the real thing... (at least not for the next couple of generations!) Just my 2 cents...

I find myself reading more comics now than I have since I was a teenager, so it's working nicely for me. :)

I recently got the Ipad and downloaded the Marvel & DC apps and I gotta say that the comics look frakking AWESOME!  The guided view is most excellent, makes seem a bit like a motion comic.  The colors really pop too.  The apps actually make me want to buy a few books and I'm only an on occasion comic book reader.
