Common Joins Freedom Fighters in TERMINATOR

Date: Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Rapper and actor Common seems to be getting his name into big project lately. He was set to co-star in the now stalled Justice League Mortal and he has another comic adaptation for this summer, Universal's Wanted. The trades are now reporting that he's also co-starring in next summer's  Terminator Savation: The Future Begins. Comnon has also appeared in such films as Street Kings, American Gangster, and Smokin' Aces. In recent years, the Chicago-bred rapper has become one of the more prominent voices in hip-hop's new millennium renaissance. Born Lonnie Rashid Lynn in 1972, Common released his first LP, "Can I Borrow A Dollar?", under the Common Sense moniker.

The rapper will be joining fellow co-stars Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Moon Bloodgood. McG (Terminator 4, Charlie's AngelsCharlie's Angels: Full Throttle) directs from a script by John D. Brancato & Michael Ferris and Paul Haggis. Dan Lin, Mortiz Borman, Victor Kubicek, Jeff Silver, Derek Anderson and Jeanne Allgood are producing the film.

Plot Concept:
"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" will reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-movie span. The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind. John Connor (Bale), now in his 30s, leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Sam Worthington leads as a new freedom fighter named Marcus. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will hit theaters May 22, 2009.

I liked him in Smokin Aces & American Gangster. Haven't seen Street Kings but plan to along with Wanted. Anyway, they should've picked Kimbo Slice for Common's part. Kimbo Slice son!!!!!!!!
Or how bout they free Wesley Snipes and let him work to pay off his debts, the man isn't educated in the world of finance, it's not his fault damnit, free him!! we need more straight to dvd flicks.
by the way, can't believe you guys haven't brought up the Avengers stuff from Yahoo. That needs to be mentioned and give credit to your boy Taydor.

Haven't seen him in anything yet. I hope, since most people haven't been up in arms about him getting cast in so many things, that he's at least a decent actor and won't kill a project by virtue of the fact that he's in it.

By the way, thanks for finally bringing the paragraph breaks back!! Yayy!!

He didn't do much in Street Kings, American Gangster and really didn't do a whole lot in Smokin Aces. What he did do he did fairly well so I guess there must be something there because he seems to keep getting cast and his names keeps popping up for big projects. I can't believe he's being cast to draw more black fans because if that was the case there are a lot more recognizable rappers out there, I think. Aren't there?

Since Common already got the good black guy part, they McG needs to cast Kimbo Slice as the new terminator or Skynet incarnate.

This I can handle, he was good in 'Aces, I just don't see him as the Green Lantern. If they want to do the John Stuart Green Lantern, they need to keep looking.

Hanso...In love with the Kimbo my man? Do you want him to break you off a piece of his Slice?
Hanso...Don't ask me what any of that means...I thought it was funny when I was typing it down but now that I read it, it's not funny at all...Of course that wouldn't necessarily go against the grain because I tend too amuse myself and only myself rather easily...So no offense to you my man but you do seem to have a hard on for Mr. Slice...Good luck on that...

There is enough Kimbo for everyone.
Roles for Kimbo should be: BA Baracus, Doomsday, a Terminator, a Bond Villain's main henchman, can't think of anymore but should more castings arise I'll let you peeps know. Kimbo Slice son, youtube it out!

I take that back, Kimbo can't be in no PG13 Terminator. Please disregard all Kimbo comments having to do with this film.
I didnt' see the ESPN 360 with Slice, where is my tax evading friend Wiseguy? Holla at yo boy.

Common has definitely surprised me as an actor. I always liked his rapping style and his attitude. He`s not like most other bling rappers. He makes true hip hop, which is more poetry than just rhyming over a beat. He was good in Street Kings and American Gangster even though he really didn`t do all that much. He was very good in Smokin Aces which was a bigger role. This should be cool. Its funny how the more poetic hip hop artists (Common, Mos Def) that try acting are better than the mainstream guys(50 cENT).

KIMBO SLICE? Are you kidding? No way Hollywood puts him in anything, unless it's a role as a gangster. First he'd have to shave off the beard... then cover up the tats... then get plastic surgery for his belly button, because it looks like a huge ZIT. Even after all that, I'm not sure SkyNet can make Terminators with dark skin. Maybe when the planet got nuked all the materials make darker skin got burned up. Not to be racist, but we just haven't seen any black Terminators... now that I think about it I don't remember seeing any black survivors of judgement day at all. Maybe SkyNet was a program designed by a bunch of Neo-Nazis to ride the planet of anything and anybody that didn't look like them. Think about it. SkyNet builds a Terminator that has a thick Austrian accent. Hmmmm...

Anyhow. Glad the paragraphs are back. Now what's this I hear about the Avengers on Yahoo?
