What is best in life, Conan? To sue your enemies in open court, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!
There has been a battle festering over the film rights to 'Conan', according to a recent Reuters article. That battle is on its way to court.
Beverly Hills-based Conan Properties Int'l, the creator and owner of the underlying rights to the "Conan the Barbarian" films, is suing several parties, including Lionsgate, Edward R. Pressman Productions, Modern Times Group, and others, seeking a piece of net profits from the films.
The lawsuit comes as indie film company Nu Image plans to begin production on a remake of "Conan the Barbarian," which Lionsgate will distribute next year.
It should be noted that the suit is squarely aimed at the producers of the first two Conan movies of the 1980s. It should not involve the new Conan movie, which is being produced in cooperation with Conan Properties International.
