Director Guillermo del Toro has uploaded a good amount of concept art for HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY. The director put it up on the official Hellboy site featuring looks at new B.R.P.D tools, beasts like the Berserker & Fish Monger and new set looks like the Golden Army Chamber. The film stars Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Luke Goss, Thomas Kretschmann, Doug Jones, Anna Walton, Brian Steele, Roy Dotrice, John Hurt

Plot Summary: After an ancient truce existing between humankind and the invisible realm of the fantastic is broken, hell on Earth is ready to erupt. A ruthless leader who treads the world above and the one below defies his bloodline and awakens an unstoppable army of creatures. Now, it's up to the planet's toughest, roughest superhero to battle the merciless dictator and his marauders. He may be red. He may be horned. He may be misunderstood. But when you need the job done right, it's time to call in Hellboy (Ron Perlman).

Along with his expanding team in the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Development--pyrokinetic girlfriend Liz (Selma Blair), aquatic empath Abe (Doug Jones) and protoplasmic mystic Johann--the BPRD will travel between the surface strata and the unseen magical one, where creatures of fantasy become corporeal. And Hellboy, a creature of two worlds who's accepted by neither, must choose between the life he knows and an unknown destiny that beckons him.

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY hits theaters July 11, 2008.

I really liked the first and I'm looking forward to this one. But I must say that they're making a huge mistake releasing this film one week prior to Batman. I know it seems that a lot of studios have been doing this but releasing these big budget movies without at least two weeks in between to maximize the box office it not only hurts them but the possibilty of sequels suffers with diminished returns.

WISEGUY562 your right, I can't wait to see this, but it is a mistake releasing it so close to the Dark Knight. The Studio is overestimating Hellboy's staying power, after all, he is far from the mainstream. Then again, my ass will definately be in a chair.

While I do think one week is a bad move, I don't think it'll be that horrible. Maybe the studio isn't overestimating it's staying power - hence they don't fear putting it so close; those who will see it, already know about it and will most likely see it the first weekend. But yeah, two weeks would be better.
