Some new details and a concept sketch has made its way online for THE HOST 2 (it's really a prequel), courtesy of Sci-Fi Japan. The details came by way of a press release from creator Kang Full, who alway drew the concept below featuring a lift holding the monster at bay. Full also mentioned that the political implications would be appearing again inside this next installment of their monster franchise. While there is no actors or director attached to this film as of yet, the production company has the film slated for a summer 2009 release.

Here's some of the details by Sci-Fi Japan:

Because of its subject matter, THE HOST 2 is very likely to feature as much serious political and social subtext as the previous film. The restoration of Cheonggyecheon was an administration of Lee Myung-bak, current President-elect of Korea. Lee was the mayor of Seoul between 2002 and 2006, and the restoration of Cheonggyecheon was his election pledge. Before the restoration, Cheonggyecheon was notorious for its foul underground water and as a architectural safety hazard. Although the restoration has now made the creek one of the major tourist attractions of Seoul, it has drastically changed the everyday lives of the people living around Cheonggyecheon.

Reportedly, there is a line in Kang’s script, spoken by a municipal officer— “The mayor (Lee) who plans to run for the next presidency ordered that the restoration of Cheonggyecheon must be completed before his term is over.” The restoration made Lee a public figure and it is generally agreed that it greatly helped him win the recent presidential election. However, it also caused criticism after the completion. Many merchants, including street vendors who had long-established business near Cheonggyecheon had to be relocated and there were several complications related to compensation for them. And the current stream of Cheonggyecheon is not from the upper stream, but water supply facilities. These are the reasons why many, including environmentalists and scholars, accuse the restoration of being nothing but a waste of taxes and a demonstration of Lee Myung-bak’s hubrice. With these aspects, THE HOST 2 is expected to be quite controversial when released, especially in the early years of Lee’s presidency.

Myeh, it's a Korean Graboid (the story picture anyway). I can't see the sketch.

The first one had its moments. I'd give this one a chance... at least it's not another Halloween.

I liked the first but it didn't live up to the hype for me... i could go another round however.

Initially I was curious about The host but i'll probably end up renting it... as for Halloween, we all know exactly how themovielord feels about that movie AND Rob Zombie, that point is mute because theres a large number of Halloween fans that think its on par with the original... I know YOU dont think that it is, and that is your opinion... I and many others, however, do not share your opinion.
Jetpackjesus, the sketch looks like an army guy is driving a forklift into Meatwad on Aqua Teen Hunger Force only this sketch has arms...lol!!

Well, Mckracken, if that's what it is I am totally on board for this flick.

The first movie totally was not on my radar. I know nothing about this series. Should I be checking out the first movie?

The first film was good. It is an asian film so it does have its weird moments, but a hell of a start to a monster movie if i do say so. If your unsure about it I'd say its worth a rental.

Cool. This is great news. I loved the first one. Sure it's not the greatest, but it was darn fun and entertaining. Specially that rampage through the crowd of people.

I'm waiting for this one on cable. Talk about an overhyped movie by the critics. Then again I shouldn't be surprised since it's a foreign film. Sure it had a few moments but I found it completely too slow and boring for a monster movie.

This is great news. I loved the firs tone, And I don’t think it was over hyped. In fact I never saw any ads for it. I got lucky and caught it at a 3 dollar theater. Great movie.
I’ll bet anyone $200 that the Host was better than Cloverfield will be. any takers?

Am I the only person who was real disappointed in the first movie? I'm not going to get into detail about what happened in the end, but I was like - WTF?!
