i likes.....I likes alot...(drool)

DREDD 3D will open on Friday, September 21st, 2012.
Those Slo-Mo sequences should look absolutely stunning in 3D and will hopefully lure in enough non-believers to raise the 50 million (US Boxoffice) needed for a sequel. Remember this is an independent movie studio and they'll need all the support they can get. According to Garland the second movie will explore the "Cursed Earth" outside Mega City One and the third will delve into the psychic realm of "Deadworld" where the dark judges rule. Apparently the script is already finished for the second installment.
Since we cannot miss the chance to see these epic storylines on the big screen, you'll get your american asses to see this movie on the 21st. That goes for all of you (I believe the EU and Asian markets should be well covered). The "Block Wars" theme for this first film is another great setting that should do the trick of establishing the characters of Dredd and Andersson and knowing Garland he'll guaranteed have a few surprises up his sleeve.

I really didn't know it was planned as a trilogy. It would be crazy to see some Dark Judge action somewhere. The 3D looks amazing and can tell it will be great on the big screen.
Okay seems like all people are commenting on is the 3D. So I'll say this: I hope the whole movie isn't constantly going into slow motion. I think I'd get bored. When it happens like once or twice a picture its cool when it happens to much it annoys me. Gore doesn't bother me, but gore for gore sack is sort of lame to me. I get the 3D effect, though I couldn't care less about it. I just hope this movie has a great plot and is directed and acted well.
The reviews from the ComiCon screening are pouring in and they're ALL positive (3 stars or better with the majority being 4 stars). So tell all your friends to hit the web people and let all your unhealthy "Dredd" scepticism wash away.
All of the main cast from Urban (Dredd) and Thirlby (Judge Anderson) to Headey (Ma-Ma) have gotten standing ovations for their character interpretations. Here are some outtakes from other sites:
"In many ways, Dredd feels like an action film from a simpler time, like Assault on Precinct 13 or Escape From New York. It doesn’t break the bank with escalating set-pieces, to the point where the character is lost amidst the explosions. Dredd is a character study, primarily, one fuelled by violence and action, and we can’t think of a better way to re-introduce this character to cinema audiences" - IGN (8/10)
"2000 AD aficionados can rest easy - Judge Dredd's latest cinematic outing is brutally true to its comic book source and a vast improvement on Sylvester Stallone's universally loathed 1995 interpretation... Urban [is] aided by Garland's smart, fast script, a relentless flow of Rorschach Test blood sprays from bone-shattering brutality, eye-poppingly beautiful 3D visuals and peppy banter with Thirlby... The body count is high, the humour grim and the violence stylishly graphic and reminiscent of Sin City" - TotalFilm (No score)
"Dredd’s director, Pete Travis, and screenwriter Alex Garland, the driving force behind the reboot... transplant Dredd straight from the comics onto the screen. This Dredd is a deadpan delight - he doesn’t grow as a person and he doesn’t crack wise. In fact, the movie generates its few laughs from his sheer intractability – a grunt here, a monosyllabic response there. It’s a role that has to be handled with care, and luckily Urban is excellent" - EmpireOnline (3/5)
@tallman - They actually tried to fit in the Dark Judges already in the first script, but quickly decided they needed to establish the main characters in their natural "habitat", before exploring the otherworldly dimensions of "Deadworld".
They should have Armand Assante make a cameo. IMO, he was the best part of the Stallone version. Him and his ABC robot bodyguard.
Drokk! This gets my attention every time. Urban looks the part and has the grimace down to a tee.
