Bumping things up a bit from our usual four new reviews per day pattern, we've gone up to five this week as we've got in an additional release that we wanted to highlight today because of how good it is. So in addition to the usual two manga reviews and two DVD reviews, we've got a third DVD review.

What warrants the extra attention? That's Chris taking a look at today's release of Maria Watches Over Us Season 2 Collection. This series continues to work through the Catholic high school girls in Japan story idea but it ends up working some really strong emotional material in it as the characters actually grow and change. On the flip side of that, Chris is also taking a look at the 11/11/2008 release of the Dragon Ball Z Double Feature: Cooler's Revenge / Return of Cooler from FUNimation on Blu-ray. FUNimation is continuing to churn out fairly regular Blu-ray releases, more than any other US anime studio, and they're certainly proving to be rather adept at it.

Dani is checking in from the UK this morning as well with a new DVD review, this time at the extra packed edition of Death Note Vol. #3 from Manga Entertainment UK which runs through episodes 17-24. Nothing like doubling up over the US count to get a release out the door!

In the manga world, Erin is stepping in today with a double dose of books to look at, one first volume review and one small bodied review. The object of her full first volume review is that of Angel's Coffin by You Higuri which came out in October of 2008 from Go! Comi. Erin is also digging further into a series from Viz Media as she looks at their November 2008 release of Love*Com Vol. #9 by Aya Nakahara.

Series: Dragon Ball Z, Maria Watches Over Us, Death Note
