What They Say
It's holiday season, and Yuzu is up to her ears in parties! As the heiress of her grandmother's great estate, she soon discovers that she has to choose a husband - and three different candidates have already been offered her hand! The ever-present Kagami helps her keep her head, but she can no longer deny her feelings for him... feelings he claims that he cannot return.

The Review!
Thanks to help from the unlikeliest of people, Yuzu manages to make the opening of the wedding hall a success and thwart the public announcement of her engagement to Masaya. But when Yuzu implores her grandmother to stop trying to force an arranged marriage on her, her grandmother coolly informs Yuzu that not only does she still consider Masaya a candidate, she's got two others lined up as well! The news sends Yuzu into a depression, and to her surprise, Kagami tries to cheer her up -- by taking her on a date!

Thus far, Ultimate Venus has gone from taking Yuzu through diabolical plots to unseat her as the Shirayuki heir to butting heads with her grandmother and now it seems to be headed in the direction of overwhelming Yuzu with unwanted suitors even as she struggles with her feelings for Kagami. Kagami's date was entirely a surprise. Though it initially smacked of some cunning ploy of Yuzu's grandmother, his motivations and what he shares with Yuzu are entirely unexpected, albeit overly sentimental.

However, once Marriage Candidate Number Two explodes onto the scene, Shigematsu switches to high comedy gear. The athletic Muroi with his seemingly split personality is a rambunctious addition to the bishounen lineup, which has thus far been comprised of more subdued characters. Those who like their bishies flirtatious and bold will enjoy playboy Muroi although Shigematsu's premise that he is unaware of Yuzu's true identity is somewhat tenuous Yuzu's near celebrity status at the school. However, between Yuzu's date with Kagami and the introduction of Muroi, we get a significant amount of backstory to Yuzu's and Kagami's lives before Grandma Shirayuki stepped into the picture.

Extras include story thus far summary, embedded author's notes and character profiles, translator notes, and a plug for Tenshi Ja Nai.
