New release date for GREEN LANTERN

Fans anticipating the 'Green Lantern' movie will half to wait another half-year. A new release date of June 17, 2011 has been staked by Warner Bros. for the film. The new date places the Warner Bros./DC Universe feature squarely in the middle of a big supehero storm, coming a month after 'Spider-Man 4' and 'Thor' and a month before 'First Avenger: Captain America'.

The 'Green Lantern' movie is currently in development under director Martin Campbell. No actors have been cast in the film.

Rodriguez's BARBARELLA Left Unsatisfied

MTV Movies Blog chatted with rebel filmmaker Robert Rodriguez about the upcoming 'Sin City' Blu-Ray release. They dropped in a question about the 'Barbarella' film that the director had been developing for Universal.

Rodriguez told MTV that he's no longer involved with the project. His departure came after funding became available from a German company, offering the director the biggest budget of his career: $70 million. However, the project would have then required him to film the movie primarily in Germany.

"Nothing against Germany, but I have five kids and I was like, ‘God, I don’t know if we can do that. I don’t know if I can be away that long,'" Rodriguez told MTV.

The director also said that the decision was not an easy one.

"We had all this artwork and screen tests of what it would look like. It was a really cool, R-rated, sexy—almost like that [1981 animated] movie, ‘Heavy Metal’—version of a ‘Star Wars’ movie. Something that no one ever could get to see. It was gonna be really great."

Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

and now for the most exciting installment yet of...

Jon Favreau Tweets about IRON MAN 2

IRON MAN 2 crew on location at Randy's Donuts in L.A.

We've been reposting Jon Favreau's Twitter tweats in this spot regularly since filming on 'Iron Man 2' began a few weeks ago. Admittedly, the tweets have been appealing only to the most voyeuristic among us. However, yesterday's round of twittering yielded a number of interesting nuggets, including a new location photo from the filming.

The photo shows the 'Iron Man 2' crew working on the roof of famous L.A. landmark Randy's Donuts. The famed Inglewood drive-in, known to some as "The Big O" and its quirky architecture has been a staple of the California scene since the 1950s.  It's been featured in numerous films and TV shows, and even mimicked in 'The Simpsons'.

Favreau doesn't provide his Twitter followers and context for the photo, so it's anyone's guess how this will figure into the film. Maybe Iron Man will fly through the famous hole!

But the photo-op that many fans have been waiting for happened on the closed set yesterday. Check out the tweets:
