Michael Bay Not Quitting TRANSFORMERS

On his official website Michael Bay clarified his position on the 'Transformers' franchise. His involvement with it is not dead yet, just hoping for a bit of a rest.

Recapping the story that blistered around the internet yesterday, Bay was quoted by WENN as saying that he's "had enough" of the franchise, of big explosions, and of critics relentlessly dogging his movies.

Bay's response from his blog reads, "Hah, love press how they spin. Never said it - just wanted a vacation is more to the point. And no I don't read the good or the bad reviews."

So rest easy, Autobot lovers. Bay will be back for a third go-round.

Mendes Vague on PREACHER Future

With 'Away We Go' now in theaters, many of us hoped diretor Sam Mendes would get busy on that 'Preacher' movie.

A Variety article detailing his two year first-look pact with FOCUS Features makes no mention of it as an upcoming project for the producer, director. Even more discouraging are the comments Mendes made to the Scotsman newspaper in a recent interview.

When asked what his next project might be, the filmmakers said, "I don't know, really, I'm a very bad predictor of what I'm going to do next."

When pressed on the question of 'Preacher', Mendes said he is attached, "but it would need to be transformed into a script, and it's another piece of Americana, so it's something that might wait".

A new GREEN LANTERN in the movie?

Screenwriter Marc Guggenheim tells MTV Splash Page that when 'Green Lantern' hits the big screen they'll see lots of familiar characters soaring out of the pages of the comics. However, there are plans to introduce one new Corpsman that the world has never seen before.

"One of our rules has been: 'Don’t create a new Lantern when a pre-existing one from the comic books would work just as well,'"he said. "There’s only one Lantern who we’ve decided to completely create from scratch, but there’s a very specific reason why we’ve made that decision."

Sadly the writer revealed little else.

SMALLVILLE Spin-off in the works?

Michael Aussielo at EW.com tells his readers that The CW is looking for ways to keep the 'Smallville' brand alive and a new series might be just the ticket.

"The 's' word is being thrown around again. No, not Superman -- I'm talking about spin-off. With next season likely the show's last, rumor has it there's chatter around Smallville about ways to extend the franchise," writes the answer man.

He doesn't divulge any other details. Our thinking is that the Green Arrow character has breathed new life into the series over the past few seasons and he'd be the best candidate to carry his own show. Of course, they've been seeding the works with many interesting incarnations of DC Comics classics, so any one of them could be a candidate as well.

Megan Fox says HEX is a franchise

MTV chatted up the lovely Megan Fox at the MTV Movie Awards earlier this month. They asked Fox if she thought the 'Jonah Hex' movie was a stand-alone feature, or was part of a series of films.

"They leave it open for a sequel," Fox said. "They tweaked the script so there could be a sequel if necessary."
