And what is today's lesson? Don't kidnap Nagi. All she'll do is criticize and cut away at you until you're nothing but a shell.

What They Say
Episode 12: A Cruel Idiot's Thesis

March 3 - The Hina Festival  is taking place at Hakuo Academy. Being under the dollmaker's spell, Hayate is disguised as a lovely maid. The curse must be lifted before the end of the Hina Festival and to do so, he must go to the highest point in the area which is the clock tower and the master of the tower happens to be Hakuo Academy's student council president, Hinagiku. She's the only one who can reverse the spell. However, the unlucky female butler receives a confession of love from a guy and is under house arrest. That's where we left off last time. It's Hermoine's, no wait, Hayate's fate? What?! What else happened on 3/3?

The Review!
Hayate is still under the dollmaker's curse, and what's worse, he now has Izumi Segawa's butler, Kotetsu, confessing his love to him, under the mistaken impression that Hayate is a beautiful young maid. Talk about having one bad thing just pile up on top of another.

Of course, this being Hayate the Combat Butler, we don't have an ultra-dramatic series of events to lift the curse. Instead, the removal of the course is accomplished more through, well, let's just say that it's brute force, or the threat of it, from a third party.

With that nonsense taken care of, we finally get a nice moment between Hinagiku and Hayate. But that's as far as we get for this episode. We'll have to wait for the next one to see the conclusion.

Yes, I passed over the karaoke contest, simply because there's little to say about it other than that it was pretty cool.

In Summary:
Hayate's luck seems to go from bad to worse all the time. This current round, involving a curse from a messed-up dollmaker, definitely feels like a punishment for Hayate, as he himself says. But that doesn't get our intrepid butler in debt down. He just works harder. At least the curse storyline ends amusingly enough. The karaoke sequence alone, however, earns this episode a slightly better than average grade.
