Behind the Music of SCOTT PILGRIM

Playlist.com has done some sniffiing around behind the music of 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' and they think they've sussed out the real life bands who are providing the RAWK for the on-screen bands in the film.

According to their report the band Metric is doing the songs for fictional band Clash at Demonhead (fronted by Brie Larson and featuring Brandon Routh). Broken Social Scenes is backing Crash and the Boys (which supposedly fronts an all-star cast of actors in non-speaking roles). Most interesting? Beck is composing the movie for the protagonist band  Sex Bob-Omb of which Michael Cera's Scott Pilgrim is a member.

SOLOMON KANE going to Toronto

Those of you who couldn't make the 'Solomon Kane' panel on Saturday at Comic-Con missed out on one of the surprises of the show. The film looks to be an awesome, dark, sword/sorcery fantasy film. Check out Mania's report.

Director Michael J. Bassett says if you're at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival you'll get a chance to see the complete film! Here's the blurb from his blog:

Since it’s now been announced officially I can confirm and rejoice in the fact that Solomon Kane is going to play in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival. I’m really pleased about this as it’s not a press or industry screening but a real showing for real people – and hopefully, in this section of the festival, for real genre fans too.  I haven’t got the official date yet but it’s likely to be the 16th or 17th.  That’s not gospel and things change.  I’ll post here when I know more details.

Peter Jackson on TINTIN

Empire Magazine chatted with Peter Jackson about various films, including the upcoming 'Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn'. Jackson says that Steven Spielberg has completed the first cut of the film and Jackson is set to view the film soon.

“My role in it is mainly to keep an eye on the production and the effects shots, as Weta are doing the visuals,” he told Empire. Jackson will get started on his 'Tintin' feature next year. “I’ve got to get through 'The Hobbit' first, then we’ll move onto that. At the moment we’re keeping our options open, but I am very partial to The Seven Crystal Balls/ Prisoners Of The Sun. I’m going to read them all again before deciding which to have a go at.”

LOST actor wants BLACK PANTHER Role

Although Djimon Hounsou has already claimed the role for a TV animated series on BET, 'Lost' actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje told MTV Splash Page that he's talking to Marvel about being the live-action 'Black Panther' on the big screen.

"We're talking to Marvel," the actor told MTV News. "This is the first round, so you know, hopefully they'll look at 'G.I. Joe' and see the potential. But it's about time we have a black superhero, isn't it?"

Gaiman declares DEATH near...er...death?

The film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman spin-off 'Death: The High Cost of Living' has been in development for about a decade now. At Comic-Con, Gaiman, who was once attached to direct the film, told Collider.com that he's not holding his breath for the movie.

"I don’t know that it’s dead right now, but it’s definitely lying in a coffin with a lilly on its chest. However anything in comics can come back to life and things in coffins can spring out at you at any moment. I was quite sure in 2002 that Beowulf was not just dead but absolutely gone and dead forever in then in 2004, Bob Zemeckis suddenly resurrected it. Death was meant to have been with New Line and New Line is now basically a filing cabinet in Warner Brothers. If it comes back, or if we can figure out a place within Warner Brothers to make it, then it’ll get made. The problem that Death has is that those characters belong to Sandman which belongs to DC Comics which belongs to Warner Brothers which means I can’t take anything out. Anything that’s mine, I can decide where it goes and what happens to it. I can take a Coraline and I can pick Henry Selick. I can pick who would be the best filmmaker for this — Henry — and send, as I did, send the Coraline’s manuscript to Henry and then stick with him for seven years while he went off to find a way to make it and a place to make. When he finally found Laika and settled down there and persuaded them to make it, I feel like all of my faith was justified. With Death there’s a great script, I would love to make that film someday, but I’m not holding my breath any longer."
