RED Cast Expands

You can add four new names to the cast list for the movie version of 'Red'. Actors Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox are all in negotiations for the film according to THR's Heat Vision blog.

McMahon, known to C2F fans for his off-note performance of Doctor Doom in the 'Fantastic Four' movies, would play a shifty Vice President at the center of the plot to kill Bruce Willis' character.

Borgnine is a CIA archivist. Dreyfuss is set to play a business mogul, made rich by lucrative government contracts. Cox is a former Willis foe from the Cold War days.

The film is set to roll cameras in January under the direction of Robert Schwentke. Previously announced cast members include Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly and Mary Louise Parker.

'Red' is based on the DC/Wildstorm graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.

Lionsgate Not Distributing SOLOMON KANE

Reports out of the American Film Market this week indicated that Lionsgate had picked up the North American distribution rights to much-anticipated 'Solomon Kane' movie, featuring Robert E. Howard's puritan hero.

However, director Michael J. Bassett told fans on his blog that these reports are incorrect.

"Lots of notes and emails coming through telling me that Lionsgate have picked up Kane. Yes, it seems like a good fit but no, it isn’t true," Basset wrote. "Don’t know where this rumour started but sorry folks in  North America, you are no nearer to seeing Solomon Kane.   Everyone else; early next year."

So what is Anvil doing in GREEN HORNET?

MakingOf.com posts a video interview with Sacha Gervasi, director of the underdog hit film 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil' which aptly enough tells the story of Canadian metal band Anvil. We learned earlier in the year that Anvil was taking some role in Michel Gondry and Seth Rogen's 'Green Hornet' movie.

In the video Gervasi describes to MakingOf how the band came to be in the movie, and how they'll be kicking that film off with a bang.

SUPERMAN RETURNS: The Director's Cut

'Superman Returns' is always a topic that sparks some debate in the comments section. While some fans would rather see as little of the movie as possible, it turns out other fans are pushing Warner Bros. to release more of it, according to Latino Review.

There's a new website out there called SupermanReturnsTheBryanSingerCut.com that wants WB to release a director's cut of the film. Such a cut would include some 15 minutes or so extra footage, including the scenes where Superman returns to Krypton.

The site has cut together a trailer promoting such a cut which includes images of Brandon Routh in the black Superman "resurrection suit" (although there's no resurrection in the movie).

Visit the site if you want to support the movement for the Bryan Singer cut of 'Superman Returns'.
