So now it's Vulture in 'Spider-Man 4'?  Plus: Reynolds talks 'Deadpool' costume. Brolin boarding 'Men in Black 3'? Reshoots for 'Jonah Hex'. More! Broadcasting on the pirate WiFi signal, it's your Comics2Film 9.12.9!

Reynolds Talks DEADPOOL Costume, Vibe

MTV Splash Page continues their series of Ryan Reynolds sound bites, with the latest focusing on the actor's casting as Marvel's wise-cracking anti-hero 'Deadpool'.

Reynolds has promised from the start that Deadpool will wear the red and black costume that fans know and love from the comics.

"Oddly enough, I think the suit is the easiest task," he told MTV. "It's such a cool-looking suit, too. It's just deciding on the material and stuff, but that comes into play once you get a script."

However, the actor said that there have been no costume fittings or movie designs for the suit that he's seen yet, which makes sense as they still seem to be working out the script.

"You want to find the best version of what's in the comic books, but like a lot of [characters], Deadpool has one of the more inconsistent narratives," he said. "It's tough, because the series has been dropped and reopened so many times. You really have to pick and choose so many of the best elements and cobble those together and create the movie of your dreams."

He also said fans needn't worry about him confusing this role with the other big screen superhero he's playing: 'Green Lantern'.

"I think there was some concern that I would make Green Lantern some kind of wise-cracking Wade Wilson-type, and that's not the case at all," he explained. "If that's what they wanted, why would I have screen-tested for the movie?"

Josh Brolin boarding MEN IN BLACK 3?

The L.A. Times Hero Complex Blog is reporting that things are happening with the recently-discussed 'Men in Black 3' movie.

According to the report, Josh Brolin is looking to come on board the franchise. Reports about his role are vague, but some are saying that he'll be replacing Tommy Lee Jones as part of the alien-affairs cop duo. Or, he may be playing a younger version of Jones' character. Or, it may be "something else entirely."

The site also reports that Will Smith is expected to return to the franchise and the film is planned for a 2010 production start. Etan Cohen wrote the script and director Barry Sonnenfeld may return to the director's chair.

Casting for JONAH HEX Reshoots

Speaking of Josh Brolin, it appears director Jimmy Hayward is doing some additional filming on the 'Jonah Hex' movie, which wrapped principal photography in New Orleans this summer.

SpoilerTV has posted casting notices for some filming that set to run from Shooting: Jan. 18 - Feb. 1. The location isn't specified so it's unclear if these will happen in the original location in Louisiana, or if plans call for L.A. reshoots.

Here are the roles being cast, according to SpoilerTV:

[CASSIE] - wife of 'Jonah Hex' (Josh Brolin). Native American. Pretty, young, sexy.

[TRAVIS] - age 9 (to play younger)... Must be a match to Josh Brolin and Native American 'Cassie'.

[JEB TURNBULL] - son of 'Quentin Turnbull' (John Malkovich). 30 - 35. Skinny, southern accent. Needs one or two

days for prosthetics.

[PRESIDENT ANDREW JOHNSON] - 50-60. Look alike, if possible.

[ADVISOR] - to President Johnson. Younger, 1870's version of a "West Wing" character.

[DEAD GUY] - late 20s/30s. Scary looking.. May need a day for prosthetics/possible make-up.

Morgan Freeman on the fate of BATMAN 3

In spite of the fact that filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been busy with his new movie 'Inception' there has been non-stop chatter about what will or won't happen with the next 'Batman' movie.

The latest comes courtesy of MTV Splash Page who put the question to actor Morgan Freeman (a.k.a. Lucius Fox in the previous two films). Freeman, out doing the rounds for 'Invictus' told the site that, like C2F, he has little doubt that Nolan will return to the franchise.

"I know—I just know—that Chris is working on number three," Morgan Freeman told MTV News. "He couldn't possibly not be."

However, Freeman admits he has no specific knowledge of plans for the third installment, but if he was making the choice he'd want Catwoman in the movie.

Malkovich to play Vulture in SPIDER-MAN 4

A new round of 'Spider-Man 4' rumors hit the web yesterday and they're causing a stir.

To recap what we know. There is a male villain in the film and it's not the Lizard. Also, they've been casting a lead female for the role of Felicia Hardy. A previous report indicates that Sony has made an offer to actress Anne Hathaway for that role.

Now: Movieline posted info coming from sources  allegedly "close to the film" that John Malkovich is "circling" that male villain role. They are also claiming that the role is that of the Vulture. The Vulture is, of course, a classic Spidey villain from the Lee/Ditko era. Originally he was Adrian Toomes, an aging tech wizard who loses everything to corporate greed and creates a flying device for himself and embarks on a life of crime. Several other people have worn the Vulture costume over the years, but Malkovich would be a great match for the original Toomes.

The site also reports that the studio is gun-shy about using the Lizard, as the monstrous character seems out-of-sync with the grounded world that Raimi established in the previous films.

That all sound plausible and consistent with what we've heard, but the next bit of Movieline's report is where things get weird.

Movieline's sources are also claiming that Hathaway is a top choice for the role of Felicia Hardy. However, they're saying that the script calls for Hardy not to assume the mantle of the Black Cat, as she does in the comics. Rather, Hardy takes on the identity of "The Vulturess".

Yep. That's what they're reporting.

C2F has to come right out and say that this seems like a terrible idea and it seems highly doubtful that Raimi and company would go that route. The Black Cat character has become, over the years, one of the top Spider-Man spin-off heroes, and Sony has to be eying the character a way to extend their Spidey franchise.

On the other hand, it's possible that Sony somehow didn't obtain the rights to Black Cat in the Spidey package and Marvel/Disney is loathe to hand them over.

Another possibility too is that someone at the studio is engaging in some disinformation in the face of all the recent actors leaking information about their auditions. Throw stink on the Black Cat stories and sow confusion now, so they have a chance to wow us with a proper announcement at Comic-Con next year. It wouldn't be the first time the studio has done this. Remember the images of the mechanical web-shooters posted on the official movie website for the first film? It got fans to stop complaining about organic web-spinners.

At any rate, if the report pans out, we're down for Malkovich playing the Vulture, but not for turning Felicia Hardy in anything other than the Black Cat.
