Is 'Batman 3' location scouting already underway? Plus: 'Kick-Ass' reviews trickling in. 'Justice League: Crisis' clips and interviews. New villain cast in 'Smallville' and more. It's, like, a huge fan of temples and history and Indiana Jones stuff. It's your Comics2Film 10.2.24!

The new DCU animated feature 'Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths' is available now on DVD and Blu-Ray. The film finds the superhero team fighting to save the multiverse from a threat from a parallel world: a world where the Justice League are tyrannical villains and the heroic Lex Luthor is all that stands in their way.

Right here on Mania you'll find a feature interview with Gina Torres. The actress (of 'Firefly' and 'Serenity' fame) plays Superwoman (the evil version of Wonder Woman) .

Also on Mania is a clip featuring a showdown between Superwoman and Batman. How does Bats fare against the uber femme fatale? Not so good really.

Finally, Comic Book Resources has an interview with producer Bruce Timm who talks about the development of this movie, and gives some brief insights into the next DCU animated feature 'Batman: Under the Red Hood'.

Schreiber Crossing Fingers for WOLVERINE 2

Actor Liev Schreiber told MTV Splash Page that when the much-discussed 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2' gets off the ground, he hopes there's a role in the film for him. Schreiber played Wolverine's brother/nemesis/ally in the previous film.

"Hugh [Jackman] has talked about the fact that he wants to work on the Japanese angle," said Schreiber, "I’ve got my fingers crossed that Victor pops into that somewhere. I’m not sure yet. I don’t remember from the comic books [if he’s in there]."

Schreiber also admits that while he was a fan of Wolverine growing up, he was a much more avid reader of DC Comics titles.

Maxwell Lord cast in SMALLVILLE

IGN has the exclusive scoop on who will be playing Maxwell Lord on an upcoming episode of 'Smallville'.

Actor Gil Bellows is lined up for the part. Bellows has numerous credits to his name but is perhaps best known for his role on 'Ally McBeal'.

Maxwell Lord was introduced into comics during the Giffen/DeMatteis era of "Bwa-ha-ha" 'Justice League'. There he was a Donald Trump-esque businessman who had taken over management of the Justice League - sort of a Jack Donaghy to Blue Beetle's Liz Lemon. Of course, the fun couldn't last forever and, in recent years, whatever good there was to be found in the character was erased when Lord was revealed to be a Machiavellian schemer bent on world domination. He ends up shooting Blue Beetle in the head and eventually gets his neck snapped by Wonder Woman.

It's not clear what version of Lord we'll be seeing, but look for Bellows to play the character in the 19th episode of the show and to return for several more episodes.

Early KICK-ASS Review

IGN has busted the embargo and posted an early review of Matthew Vaughn's filmed adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's 'Kick-Ass'.

The website scores the movie 4 out of 5 stars says, "It's more than a teen movie but less than a traditional superhero tale – and by treading this fine line, it comes up with its own hugely entertaining balance between the two."

Also enthused is Brit TV talk show host Jonathan Ross who has been tweeting effusive praise for the movie ever since a screening yesterday in London.

"Just came from first finished ['Kick-Ass'] screening! Best super hero film ever!!" he gushes. Addition praise comes in the form or reply tweets in which Ross says the movie is better than 'Watchmen' and 'The Dark Knight.

Legacy Effects Studios on IRON MAN 2

Legacy Effects, the VFX studio behind 'Iron Man 2' has posted a demo reel about their work from the film. It's not terribly revealing but you'll find some cool Armored Avenger stuff in there. Check it out:

Millar Says Hollywood Doesn't Get AMERICAN JESUS

IGN continues their series of Mark Millar interview snippets. In the latest he talks about the progress (or lack thereof) on the movie version of 'American Jesus'.

The comic (originally titled 'Chosen') details the life of a boy who discovers he has miraculous powers and is eventually worshiped as the second coming of Christ. It was one of many Millar brands that Hollywood was clamoring for after the success of 'Wanted'.

"Everybody wanted to do it but they were really nervous about the subject matter," Millar told IGN.

He goes on to detail some of the silly suggestions from Hollywood suits, including one who very earnestly wanted to explore the idea of taking the Jesus angle out of the story. Millar jokes that the movie would do well if the studios could position it as 'The Passion 2'.

The comics creator admits that Hollywood may never have the stomach to do a thriller with the word Jesus in the title and says that the more likely scenario will be to do the film completely independent, just as they've done with 'Kick-Ass'.

BATMAN 3 Scouting Underway?

Now that we know the Nolan boys and David Goyer are working up the script for 'Batman 3', the internet has been burping up rumors here and there. There was a smattering of villain/storyline rumors last week, which C2F didn't report on because they didn't seem the least bit credible.

On the other hand, we have a report from Batman-on-Film indicating that location scouting is happening in Chicago. Their unnamed sources claim that scouts for the movie "have been out and about in Chicago's Financial District."

The report is fairly vague and, if anyone had to bet on locations for the movie Chicago would be the safest possible bet. Nolan has shown tremendous loyalty to the city, not only filming both installments there, but also shunning San Diego Comic-Con in favor of Wizard World Chicago in terms of staging publicity around the more recent film.

At any rate, the 'Batman 3' excitement is building. Hopefully after Christopher Nolan's 'Inception' finds its way into theaters this July, we'll see some real B3 hype, and some of the silly character and casting rumors can be laid to rest.
