Geek culture has taken the world by storm. They are everywhere from movies to TV shows. Geeks, believe it or not, now rule supreme and they aren’t just kids in high school or college anymore. You probably have a geek in your life. So when it comes to buying your geek something extra special are you at a loss? The following are “10 Toys a Grown Up Geek Would Love”. To be honest some of these toys get pricey. The list works itself from cheapest to taking out a second mortgage, but your geek is worth it.
10. Nerf Axe and Swords
Price: 14.99 - 19.99
What geek wouldn’t love a Nerf N-Force Sword, Marauder Long Sword and/ or Warlock Axe? It would be best to buy more than one so your geek can play with his fellow geeks. All you need is a chair and a cool drink and you can watch grown geeks pummel each other with Nerf weapons.
9. The Boba Fett with Firing Rocket Pack
Price: 8.99 x 5 (a stamp and a money order for 6.99)
In case you never heard the tale there was one Star Wars figure your geek never got. Hasbro is finally producing him after all these years. You can’t buy him. All you have to do is buy 5 new vintage Empire Strikes Back figures. Mail in the proofs of purchase and wait for the ultimate geek action figure to arrive. Trust me your geek will glow when it arrives in the mail in its all white box.
8. Force FX Lightsaber Construction Kit
What geek wouldn’t love their own lightsaber? But which one do you buy: Luke’s, Vader’s, Anakin’s or perhaps Obi-Wan’s? Why not get them all in the Force FX Lightsaber Construction Kit by Master Replica. This interchangeable collection of lightsabers is the perfect grown up geek gift. It’s time your geek finally put down the flashlight and had a proper lightsaber.
7. Indiana Jones Sideshow Exclusive Edition
What geek doesn’t love Indiana Jones? He was after all the first modern day geek action hero. Sideshow Collectibles is Nirvana for the geek that loves his toys. Here is your chance to get a premium action figure that is an instant collectible. If Indy isn’t their thing Sideshow has a catalogue of properties that will make any geek happy.
6. Rorschach Grappling Gun and Mask Prop Replica Set
Price: $ 295.00
Whether they loved the movie or hated it, The Watchmen comic is probably the first graphic novel they ever bought. This prop replica set comes with Rorschach’s wearable mask and his grappling gun. It says the gun is attached to the base but trust me your geek will have it off quick enough and be out the door in his trench coat.
5. PlayStation 3
No not an Xbox 360, a PlayStation 3. All you need is a game for your geek (Call of Duty would be good), a few minutes to connect it to the wireless server and your geek is in heaven. There are no monthly fees, no red rings of death, nothing but pure video game excitement. Did I mention you also just got them a Blu-ray player too?
4. Captain America Deluxe Metal Shield
Your geek has probably already used a trash can lid or a saucer sled has Cap’s shield. Here is the ultimate comic book symbol of freedom for your geek. Captain America’s shield also makes a great wall display until the Red Skull or a snow ball fight comes to your neighborhood. There were only 750 of these shields produced but there are other cheaper versions out there as well.
3. Gears of War 2 Lancer
When the Locust Horde attack and everyone else has bought it the only thing standing between your geek and death is the Gears of War 2 Lancer. It is not a real rifle with a chainsaw on it but your geek isn’t going to care. He’ll still properly display it over his mantle because in his mind he has stood his ground against the beasts from the bowels of Sera.
2. Star Trek Classic Captain Kirk Chair Prop Replica
There is an excellent chance that your geek has a Star Trek uniform hidden somewhere in the house. Well if that shirt is command gold then he is missing the one accessory that will make his geek life complete, Captain Kirk’s chair. This Diamond Select collectible is the ultimate geek arm chair. What makes it a toy? All the buttons and your geek playing on it for hours upon end. Warp factor one!
1. Star Wars: Han Solo In Carbonite Limited Edition Replica
Price: $3771.87 (converted from pounds)
This is the ultimate geek collectible and guaranteed to bring tears to your geek’s face. Only 2500 of these were produced by Illusive Concepts in the early 90’s but if you dig hard enough you’ll find one. It is the perfect accessory to your geek’s Boba Fett costume and the true toy that every grown up geek would love to own.
Honorable Mention: A Life Size Jabba the Hutt
There is an excellent chance your geek has seen the life size Jabba the Hutt that is on display at Comic Con. Though the practicality of such a thing boggles the mind with shipping costs and where one would actually put it. It would still be a geektastic gift and establish your geek in a class all his own.
