GREEN HORNET Delayed for 3D Upgrade

Variety reports that Sony has decided to delay the release of Michel Gondry's 'Green Hornet' movie. The film, written and produced by it's leading man  Set Rogen, will be held until January 14, 2011. The film had previously been slated for December 22 of 2010.

The stated reason for the delay is so that the movie can be retooled for 3D.

'Green Hornet' has been the recipient of -- to put it gently -- skepticism on the part of movie fans. It would be easy to take this news as additional bad buzz for the movie, especially after many of us suffered through the perfume-on-a-pig that was the 3D version of 'Clash of the Titans'.

However, the Motion Captured blog (which seems to be tight with Rogen and has seen parts of the movie) has extensive analysis of how the conversion process will impact 'Hornet'. In short, they predict a very different outcome than 'Clash', which was sort of rushed into 3D at the 11th hour by Universal. Given the long lead time for Sony Imageworks, and the fact that there is extensive visual effects work yet to be done, Motion Captured expects Sony to pull off a visually engaging movie.

Further, Motion Captured offers this comment from Rogen about the news.

"Evan Goldberg, Michel Gondry and myself could not be more excited about going 3D.  The truth is that this is something that we have wanted since the very first conversations we all had about the film.  A lot of the visually driven sequences Michel came up were first conceived for a 3D movie.  After watching the first third of the film and working with Sony Imageworks, the studio decided now would be a perfect time to commit to 3D.   Since it was always a dream of ours, the look of the film complements it perfectly.  None of the effects shots have been started, none of the blue screen shots have been composited, and this lets us do all of it in 3D.  What gets me most excited is the fact that Gondry is so enthusastic about it.  I think that Gondry's visuals done in 3D will give us something we've never seen before."

Truthfully, C2F does not know what to expect from this weird combination of director, leading man and source material, but all the strangeness and buzz around this movie is converting 'Green Hornet' into one of the films we're most eager to see.

A new LOSERS Clip

Here's another new clip from 'The Losers' courtesy of MTV Splash Page (not available outside the U.S.). This segment showcases the Helicopter heist. Once again Chris Evans' Jensen is the highlight.

Scarlett Johansson is a Lucha Black Widow in IRON MAN 2

We're just two weeks away from the return of the armored Avenger in 'Iron Man 2' and the hype machine is going full-steam. Here's a round up of interesting sights on our Tony Stark tour.

First up, the SCI FI Movie Page chats with the lovely and talented Scarlett Johansson about playing Black Widow in the film.

"I knew it was going to be some kind of sexy unitard, because I had researched the character in the comics," the actress said of her costume in the film. "I’ve never worn anything like it before, so I had a freak-out moment that lasted about half a day, but then I said 'Okay, time to suck it up' and just went full force into getting in shape to wear the costume and perform the physical action so it looked just right."

Which is funny because C2F has a freak-out moment every time we see ScarJo in the costume too! But it's not all about standing around looking hot and dangerous.

"I’m very sensitive about when you see an action sequence and the shot is on the back of somebody’s head, and then all of the sudden it cuts and the actor gives that one dramatic pose at the end and it’s obvious that it was not them in the shot before. It’s the lamest thing, because you want to see the actor risking their own life, and that is part of what sells it to an audience. So that’s why I worked for months to prepare and I really didn’t want to be perceived as a little wuss who couldn’t do it."

Which is great, but many fans noticed that in the first full trailer of the film, if you frame-by-frame the Black Widow action bit, you see the face of a stunt woman that is clearly not Johansson. The bit ends with Scarlett landing in a dramatic pose. Click through for the complete interview.

That shouldn't take anything away from the hard work and training that the actress did to prepare for her role as the Russian femme fatale. Check out this clip from Entertainment Tonight, which goes behind the scenes of the making of a Black Widow:

IRON MAN 2 Posters, Clips and Viral

Over at MSN, Microsoft is doing what it does best: taking something cool and ruining it for everyone. In this case that something is internet video, which they feel works best when you can't embed it.

So click over for a clip from 'Iron Man 2', which features an awkward meeting between Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) and business rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). Also on hand are Stark Industries CEO Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and reporter/Stark conquest Christine Everhart (Leslie Bibb).

Meanwhile a couple of cool new IMAX posters for the film have turned up at Superhero Hype and Screen Rant.

Briefcase armor is featured on this IRON MAN 2 IMAX Poster

Finally a new Stark Expo 2010 site has come online. The Stark Fujikawa mini-portal is open for business. It's a Japanese language site but has a funky video promoting their Stark HUD 2020 consumer electronics gear. Enjoy!

Stewart Taking WANTED 2 Role?

'Twilight' sulker and 'Runaways' rocker Kristen Stewart is said to be on the list of contenders to join James McAvoy in 'Wanted 2'. E! Online says the studio and director Timur Bekmambetov  have been making overtures towards the actress.

The sequel story was being built around bringing Angelina Jolie's character back from the grave, but reports surfaced in February saying the actress had ditched the project and Universal wasn't even going to make the movie. Clearly the second half of that report was wrong, but Mark Millar has confirmed that Jolie is out and they're reworking the script.

The E! report says that Stewart has met with Bekmambetov at least once.  (As a side note, we also learned from the report that gossip columnists refer to the actress a "K. Stew" which sounds like something you eat in an army mess tent).
