More IRON MAN 2 Reviews

Mania's own Rob Vaux turned in his assessment of 'Iron Man 2' yesterday afternoon. It's on the low end of positive, but still positive. Click through to read the reaction of Mania's film reviewer of record.

CHUD scored the movie 6.5 out of 10, took major issues with the script but summed up by saying, "Favreau has the action thing down pat, and he doesn't lose sight of his characters or tone while delivering very fun action beats."

Finally, the movie is currently pulling 73% positive on Rotten Tomatoes. However, we have to point out that there are only a very small sampling of reviews counted and the number could fluctuate greatly in the next week.

C2F Saw the JONAH HEX Trailer

C2F sat through a screening of the abomination that is 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and saw trailers for 'Splice' (which we're told is "insanely enjoyable") and 'Jonah Hex'.

The clips didn't leave us feeling strongly about  'Hex' one way or the other. This is definitely not Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray's straight-up-western version of the character. It trades heavily on the supernatural angle and also sets Hex up with a Q-like weapons builder in actor Lance Reddick (who comes up with things like saddle-mounted Gatling guns).

John Malkovich is there playing full-on squirrely and branding Hex's face as some kind of punishment for some transgression. Hex nearly dies and goes through some possibly-shaman-infused resurrection which leave him (apparently) with supernatural abilities, like resurrecting the dead. He also shoots a bunch of people. Josh Brolin growls a lot. Megan Fox shoots people too, and we were surprised that her mere appearance on the screen drew numerous "boos" from the audience.

At any rate, Hex looks to be a slightly darker, edgier, 'Wild Wild West' sort of movie with a supernatural spin and lots of violence. It's not any one version of the character we've ever read, but truth be told, we didn't become a fan until Joe Lansdale's run in the 1990s. The trailer should be online shortly, we'd expect.

Warner's DC Universe Movie Plans? has filed another report from their Warner Bros insider, claiming to know Christopher Nolan's scheme for building the DC Universe on the big screen.

According to their report, 'Batman Begins' is basically ground zero for the DCU. Or, the metaphor IESB uses, is Action Comics #1. Batman is the first superhero of his kind. Of course his story continues in 'The Dark Knight' which is #2.

'Green Lantern' will expand the notion of superheroes in the DCU movie world and act as #3. According to IESB, that movie will contain Easter eggs and asides that make reference to Nolan's Batman movies. Superman has not yet emerged but, of course, Nolan is working to bring him into the world.

So, the scooper claims Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are very conscientiously working to make sure the DCU unfolds on the big screen in a logical manner that allows the tonally diverse movies to co-exist.

Cool THOR Set Pic and Spoiler

Latino Review has landed what looks to be a major scoop. It's a purported photo from the set of 'Thor' which, if legitimate, reveals a character from the film with a pretty damn cool design that is straight out of the comics.

We're not going to say who the character is, even though it is revealed in headlines on every other movie site (so it's pretty much going to be impossible to avoid). But this is the first we've heard of this character actually being in the movie. C2F assumes that it's a character that will exist largely as a special effects creations.

Click here if you want to see the photo.

Thanks to AntoBlueberry for the submission.
