'Transformers 3' won't have Megan Fox to kick around any more. Plus: 'Smallville' series wind-down! 'Captain America' shuns America! Actor likes 'Scott Pilgrim' and more! It's what America wants for breakfast. It's your Comics2Film 10.5.20!
While most of the upcoming Marvel movies are slated to film in California (and indeed, Jon Favreau and Marvel were instrumental in spearheading efforts for the state to provide business incentives to keep productions in Hollywood) one movie on the slate is filming overseas: 'Captain America: The First Avenger'.
The L.A. Times reports that events are conspiring to keep the production completely in the U.K., where a large portion of the movie is set. They could have limited exterior and location shooting to London, and done their set work at Raleigh Studios where work on 'Thor' and 'Iron Man 2' was done. However, the economics of splitting up the work that way was proving prohibitive (and we know Marvel is all about economical film-making).
Furthermore there's Britain's film incentive of 20% to 25% payable tax credit on qualified expenditures. Had Marvel kept it in California they would not have been eligible for the new tax credits, which are only available to films budgeted at less than $75 million. Marvel's 'Captain America' budget is said to be a whopping $140 million.
So, plans currently stand for director Joe Johnston to begin filming the movie with actors Chris Evans, Samuel Jackson and Hugo Weaving this July in London.

Actress Blake Lively plays Carol Ferris in the upcoming 'Green Lantern' movie. In a recent Vogue profile on Surfer Style, she dished some details about the movie.
According to the report, she's been rehearsing with the film's stunt coordinator, which has proven to be quite a work-out. "Our director [Martin Campbell] likes it real—the fights close and dirty. I'm 40 feet in the air, spiraling around. That's the best workout you can ever do because it's all core. You do that for ten minutes and you should see your body the next day! It's so exhilarating, so thrilling—and nauseating."
So Carol Ferris sees a lot of action in the movie? C2F has to wonder if she's a damsel in distress in these aerial duels? Or is she sporting her own Sapphire powers in the film? Hmmmm?
There's been some big developments in the world of 'Smallville' over the last few days.
First up, The CW has announced their fall schedule. The show is slated to keep its current spot of Fridays at 8pm for the 10th season. That's not such big news.
Secondly, in an interview with Hollywood Life, actor Tom Welling let slip that Season 10 will be the series final season. The news was confirmed by The CW according THR's Live Feed blog. The network will be rolling out an official announcement soon. The news is probably not surprising to most fans who wondered if season 8 or 9 would be the last. Hopefully with a clear ending in sight, producers will make the final season about the build up to a full-on Superman appearance.
The third, and perhaps biggest bit of 'Smallville' news comes from The Ausiello Files at EW.com. Allison Mack will not be a regular player on the final season of the show that made her famous.
However, the report does not rule out Chloe Sullivan popping up here and there as a guest player, much as Kristin Kreuk did in Season 8.
"It’s amazing to think that Chloe Sullivan and I have been one in the same for over a third of my life," says Mack in an exclusive statement to EW. "I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew which has become my second family — over the past 9 and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly. It’s been a life-changing ride. and I look forward to what lies ahead with the strength of a ‘superhero’ as my foundation."
What do you think, Maniacs? Are you ready for the final season of SMALLVILLE? Are you sad to see Mack go? Post your comments below...

After a year of public contentiousness between actress Megan Fox and director Michael Bay, word broke from Deadline.com that Fox would not appear in the soon-to-lens 'Transformers 3' movie.
Fans will recall that Fox famously dissed Bay in an interview, referring to him as being "like Hitler." This lead to a mysterious "open letter" allegedly penned by three of Bay's crew on 'Transformers 2', enumerating a litany of bad behaviors ascribed to Fox on the set of that movie. The letter was posted on Bay's official site, before being pulled down and replaced with a more conciliatory statement from the director.
All seemed well for a time, but according to Deadline, Fox was at it again very recently, blaming Bay for coercing her into an unhealthy tanning regimen for the films.
This all may or may not have played into the decision not to include Fox in the sequel and the move has many declaring Fox's career dead, since she's had little success outside of the franchise that made her famous.
Paramount has confirmed for Variety that Fox will not appear in the movie but did not elaborate on the reasoning behind it. Variety's inside sources tell them that it's not due to the aforementioned public bickering.
Fox's camp has their own version of the story that they quickly put out to People.com hours after the Deadline story broke. They also confirm the news and add, "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."
Bay has writer Ehren Kruger dusting up the script for the film and replacing Fox's Mikaela Banes with a new character. So who will play that character?
The Wrap was first out of the gates with casting rumors. They've pegged Gemma Arterton ('Prince of Persia') as the likely replacement. However, they also include a list of top models such as Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker. Ain't It Cool also produced their own, completely different list of candidates, which is basically every bankable young actress out there. Their list includes Zoe Saldana, Hayden Panetierre, Vanessa Hudgens, Amber Heard, Camilla Belle, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Ashley Greene, Julianne Hough, Jessica Lowndes, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
What do you think, Maniacs? Is this the end of Megan Fox? Will you still see TRANSFORMERS 3 without her? Post your comments below...
