The Review!
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
The build-up of forces and tension between the Yellow Scarves and the Dollars continues and it's only getting worse as some members of the Yellow Scarves can only seem to find trouble. While Kida has told them to knock of the small fights and tussles that were escalating things, some of them can't seem to do it so they keep getting into trouble. That only serves to completely annoy Kida and he's making waves in the rank and file because he's showing weakness, something that certain members really don't like. Kida's control over them is definitely weakening as there are now many itching for a fight and feeling confident.

For Mikado, he's back to questioning the very existence of the Dollars and what it's all become as more and more violence is now seeping out there. His whole point of "taking over" the group before was to try and change the perception of what it's about and making it a force for good instead of the negative. But now that it's increasingly mired in this and he's feeling more and more isolated from everything, the pressure is building. Even worse is that while the group was founded to be fairly leaderless in his takeover of it, a lot of members are now looking to him for answers and for a plan, but he doesn't have one. It's an interesting fork in the road for Mikado to face as the future of the Dollars is at stake as many members are close to quitting now.

While things are going from bad to worse, it's Anri who takes decisive action as she starts to find as many Yellow Scarves as she can and tries to turn their intentions from doing damage and such to avoiding a fight. She's having a fair bit of luck as she moves throughout the city, but she's also attracting attention to herself and some of those high up in the Yellow Scarves that disagree with Kida see her as a really big advantage in their attempt to change the direction of the group. Amusingly, Anri is identified by three things that does fit within the parlance of how kids would speak by saying she's got bit glasses, a Raira school uniform and some big knockers. When they come across her and go through the checklist, you smile and grimace a little at the honest of it all.

In Summary:
Durarara has another quiet episode overall here as it's more piece shuffling than anything else as Izaya is watching the fruits of his labor fall into place and figuring out how it will all unfold. The two friends are closer to an outright war against each other, though both of them are edging away from it. It's the general membership of each of the groups, encouraged by some of those who seemed to have assumed some authority, who want to take things to the next level and go for an outright fight. Seeing how everyone has changed and the little flashback that Mikado has to when he first came to Ikebukuro shows just how the scale has shifted since then with a wide-eyed boy in the city for the first time, now a leader of potentially the big gang in the city. With only a few episodes left, it's going to be interesting to see how they resolve all of it and whether we can still like the characters afterward.
