Radical, Imagine Develop LEGENDS
Heat Vision reports that Brian Grazer and Ron Howard of Imagine Entertainment and Barry Levine's comics-to-film entity Radical Pictures are teaming to bring Legends to the big screen.
Based on a Radical Publishing comic book by Nick Percival, the story focuses on a mash-up concept that filters such characters as Red Riding Hood, Jack the Giant Killer and Hansel & Gretel through steampunk, sci-fi and creature-feature trappings. According to Heat Vision, it all begins when "the remains of Pinocchio are discovered. Red Hood, now a noted wolf hunter, and Jack partner to discover who is murdering the creatures of folklore. Along the way, they are assisted by characters such as Goldilocks, re-imagined as a mercenary, and Hansel & Gretel, now psychic exterminators."
Radical's Jesse Berger is an executive producer.
HARRY POTTER director spinning FABLES?
Pajiba reports that British director David Yates is rumored to be "up to direct" the big screen version of Bill Willingham's DC/Vertigo title Fables. The site claims to hae verified that Yates, best known for two of the recent Harry Potter films, is one of the directors being considered for the job.
Fables (which is nothing at all like Legends) focuses on such characters as Red Riding Hood, Jack Horner and Hansel & Gretel, transplanting them to a fictitious neighborhood of New York City called Fabletown. The characters live in exile there, having been driven away from their homelands by a conqueror known as "The Adversary".
The reviews for Jonah Hex are trickling in and, like the title character, they ain't too pretty:
The Hollywood Reporter: "Although Josh Brolin rises to the occasion, much of this comic book adaptation appears to have been abandoned on the cutting-room floor."
Variety: "...the film's noisy, slam-bang approach and lack of imagination in all nonvisual departments will keep it from rounding up a fresh generation of thrill-seekers."
ComingSoon.net: "...the results are as bad as League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as you see a lot of money being thrown at the screen with very little thought to storytelling or structure."
The Hollywood Reporter says that when Michel Gondry's Green Hornet hits release on January 14, it'll screen on Imax screens in 3D, simultaneous to the standard release.
Ain't it Cool has posted what is purported to be a fan photo of robot from Transformers 3, arriving early in Chicago. However, the design of the bot looks a bit more like the ones we've seen for Real Steel.

Edgard Wright tells MTV Splash Page that he worked closely with comics creator Bryan Lee O'Malley in developing Scott Pilgrim vs The World. "Really, the film is slightly different than your normal comic book adaptation because it isn't just the action," he said. "It's a comedy, there's a big love story, and there's a high, high music quotient as well."
Collider reports that Sony's adaptation of the Korean comic Priest is now due to be released on May 13, 2011. In the film, a warrior priest (Paul Bettany) disobeys Church law by teaming with a young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a beautiful priestess (Maggie Q). The three band together to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped the priest’s niece before they turn her into one of them.
