Hiddleston THOR's Loki chats up actor Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki in Marvel Studios' Thor movie.

The actor talked about digging into the comics to research the part and finding a balance between the different portrayals of Loki over the years.

"[Director Kenneth Branagh] and I discussed a lot very early on because we both read a lot of the comics and there were so many facets of him in the comics. There was kind of an agent of chaos who would go down to earth and turn whales into sea serpents and plows into dragons and whole streets of cars in New York into ice cream. But then there was also this damaged brother, this younger brother who didn’t receive as much love as his elder brother and who was passed over, rejected, betrayed, and I think that became really interesting for both of us actually," Hiddleston said, adding that the status of Loki as the less-favored son becomes the character's primary motivation for the character in the film.

"Ken and I suddenly decided we wanted to root all of his mischief in a truthful, psychological damage," the actor said, later adding, All of his stuff comes from wanting to please his father."

Hiddleston also said that he referenced Peter O'Toole's performances in The Lion in Winter and Lawrence of Arabia, as well as Clint Eastwood and Jack Nicholson in his portrayal of Loki, with Branagh favoring the repressed anger of the Eastwood style takes.

"On set, we used to do different takes of different scenes and we’d have three different versions," Hiddleston said. "The first one would always be like he’d say you can have one for free. The second take would be the Peter O’Toole take. The third take would be the Clint Eastwood take and the fourth take would be the Jack Nicholson. So it was like I had these three great actors who I was trying to pull stuff from."

Millar wants Depp and Pitt For NEMESIS

With a new movie project to hype, Mark Millar is out talking to outlets like Empire Online. The subject: the recent announcement that Tony Scott is set to direct the film version of his comic Nemesis for 20th Century Fox.

Millar told Empire that expects Scott to move quickly on it, even though the producer/director has a long list of prospective projects, and that the budget for the movie to be north of $150 million. So there'll have to be some bankable actors to anchor the film.

"With Nemesis, you’ve got two great roles for two A-list stars," Millar said. "The thing is, one guy has to be as good as the other. You’ve got Holmes versus Moriarty here or Batman versus The Joker, so each one has got to be a $20 million actor, really. I think you could go for the A+ list and get Johnny Depp as Nemesis and Brad Pitt as Blake Morrow."

The comics scribe turned Hollywood mogul said that from the start he pictured Depp in the role of the titular villain, a Batman-esque super genius who uses his resources for evil.

"When I was writing the comic, I genuinely saw Johnny Depp as Nemesis," explains Millar. "He’s a thin-faced guy, slightly creepy, a cross between Heath Ledger and Christian Bale, and someone who could pull off both those things at the same time is Depp. He would get it. He goes slightly crazy in his roles!"

Is This GREEN LANTERN's Kilowog?

Comic Book Movie's Pietro Filipponi, who uncovered numerous scoops and photos during the filming of Green Lantern in New Orleans looks to have landed his biggest exclusive yet: a first look at Kilowog as he appears in the film.

Fans will recall concept art that went online earlier this year which showed a somewhat faithful looking design for the corps massive, gruff trainer.

Purported Kilowog character designs from the GREEN LANTERN movie

The new image is tweaked a bit and gives Kilowog a more human appearance, but subtly preserves the distinct hippo-tooth shape of his mouth, the jaw-line of which appears to extend all the way to just below his ears.

[Editor's Note: Image Removed At Studio's Request]

We haven't verified that this image is actually from the movie, but Filipponi has a good track record with his Lantern reveals so far and it looks convincing to us.

What do you think, Maniacs? Do we like the way Kilowog looks in this image? Post your comments below...
