Is Wolverine in X-Men: First Class? Plus: First Wonder Woman casting rumor. Walking Dead a ratings champ! Some new Conan details and more! It's your Comics2Film 10.11.2!

WONDER WOMAN Casting Rumor

Now that we know that David E. Kelley is shepherding DC Entertainment's Wonder Woman to her own TV series, it's time for the rumor-mill to start offering up lists of casting candidates and contenders.

The first comes from who claims that actress Tanit Phoenix is a name that "keeps coming up" among the production team for the show.

The actress recently appeared in Warner Bros. direct-to-video release Lost Boys: The Thirst and she certainly looks the part.

WhatsPlaying's unnamed source claims that Phoenix has met with "key members of the production team" and there is mutual interest. The insider claims that the actress will "definitely get a screen test" when the casting process begins in earnest.

The show will supposedly debut next year.

More CONAN 3D Details

French-language site provides a few new details about the upcoming Conan 3D movie. A translation of their report (sent in by an anonymous Maniac)  contains insights provided by Robert E. Howard expert Patrice Louinet during a recent Howard convention. It confirms yesterday's report that the film is slated for an August 19 release.

Among the details revealed:

Conan 3D casts Stargate's Jason Momoa as the barbarian king. Other cast members include Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan and Saïd Taghmaoui. Marcus Nispel is directing.

WALKING DEAD Hits The Ground Running

AMC has announced that the Halloween night debut of The Walking Dead, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard is a ratings winner. The premiere episode gathered the largest audience ever for an original series on the network. The show also hit better with the 18-49 demographic than any cable series premiere for the year so far.

AMC touts impressive numbers in various categories:

"It’s a good day to be dead. We are so proud of this series, its depth of storytelling and the remarkable talent attached," said Charlie Collier, AMC’s president. "As the network dedicated to bringing viewers the best stories on television, we are so pleased to have the opportunity with The Walking Dead to raise the bar within this popular genre and continue our commitment to being the home of premium television on basic cable."

"The Walking Dead is that rare piece of programming that works on so many levels. It is legitimately great storytelling that is not only highly entertaining, but incredibly thought provoking as well. People who are familiar with the comic books know what's coming, but suffice it to say, this is only the beginning of a long, intense, and powerful ride. Long live The Walking Dead," said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s SVP of original programming, production and digital content.

Paramount have released to websites everywhere high-res copies of the Captain America: The First Avenger images that debuted in EW last week. Some of them were cropped for the article and these uncropped versions reveal some new details. We've posted them here on Mania, but if you want to download  super-duper high-res copies (ladies, C2F knows what your new desktop wallpaper will be) you can also find them at and other sites as well.

Captain America: The First Avenger arrives in theaters July 22.

Is Wolverine in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

There are no secrets with the social network in play. Case in point: news broke yesterday that actor Hugh Jackman had visited the Jekyll Island, Georgia set of X-Men: First Class when the dude who chauffeured him off the island mentioned it on his Facebook page.

One Mike Todd Sr. (whose profile reveals he's a Georgia native working in the health care industry) posted, "I drove Hugh Jackman from X-Men to the airport this morning. They are filming on Jekyll…Cool guy!"

The blurb was picked up and repeated on Twitter and is now in full swing on the rumor mill. But what does it mean?

Is Wolverine in X-Men: First Class? It's certainly possible although we'd assume it's some kind of continuity-enhancing cameo, rather than an expansive appearance. First Class is set in the 1960s and is a prequel of sorts to the X-Men franchise, dealing with the early days of Professor X and Magneto. X2 tells us that both men were familiar with Wolverine before he joined the team so perhaps this movie will reveal the earliest encounter between the three.

It's also possible that Jackman was there as a consultant, having been involved with every X-film to date, not to mention his own Wolverine 2 sequel filming next year. Another possibility is that he was simply there as a casual observer fulfilling a sense of personal curiosity about the latest installment of the franchise that made him a household name.

What do you think, Maniacs? Do you like the idea of WOLVERINE being in FIRST CLASS? If so, what's he doing there? Post your comments below...
