We pick up from last time, as the Federation has just undergone a military coup, with Graien Grassman seizing control. But first, matters at Izu Base have to be decided.

What They Say
With many of its central personnel lost in the war, the Earth Federation Government is forced to rebuild, and Brian Midcrid, president of the Unified Colonies, takes the position of its president. During an emergency session of the Federation Diet, he publicly acknowledges the existence of extraterrestials, and reveals the events of the L5 campaign to the masses in what will later come to be called the "Tokyo Declaration". He goes on to state that these aliens pose a serious threat to humanity.

President Midcrid continues, asking for the colonies to unite with earth, and to expand their military forces in a plan called the "Aegis Plan". Under the plan, new weapons are developed, and more mechs are mass produced as the entire planet's defense network is strengthened. But threats still lurk in the shadows. The remnants of Bian Zoldark's "Divine Crusaders". Those within the Federation and its army who plot to turn it into a military dictatorship. And none have yet realized...that the true threats are coming from a world "so close, yet so very far away", and a world of silence...

The planet is being invaded by foes from a parallel world, and from the past.

With the coup in power, all that remains is to get the rest of the Federation military, specifically the special personal trooper groups located at Izu Base, to cooperate with the plan to launch Operation Plantagenet, the counteroffensive against the Inspectors that would involve both the EFA and the DC working together, somewhat.

Over at Izu, Arado has now joined the fight in the Wild Wurger, with the task of trying to capture Seolla, his fellow School survivor and currently piloting the Wild Falken, the unit originally meant to partner with the Wurger. As he comes up against her, she immediately calls him an enemy, as she has been brainwashed by the evil Aguila. Arado tries to reason with her, telling her her memories have been taken away. Latooni also comes into battle, telling Seolla the same thing. Seolla isn't listening though, thinking that Latooni has been twisted by the Federation. So off she goes, trying to draw Latooni away with her. Arado can't catch her in the Wurger, though the Fairlions (Shine with her unit is with Latooni) can. Meanwhile, the people pulling Lamia's strings decide it is time for her to complete her real mission as W17. We shall see what that is.

Well, it's a doozy. The Angelg sidles right up to the Hagane, and orders the Federation forces to disarm their weapons. Otherwise, the Angelg, rigged with a self-destruct device, will take the Hagane and the Hiryuu Kai with it. The real name of the "Whiskey Group" is finally revealed: the Shadow Mirror. They start to make their move.

Back to the chase for Seolla, she now makes her move, as Latooni is captured by Ouka, who has been waiting beneath the water's surface. The fight continues, with Seolla squaring off against Arado, while Ouka is forced to fight Shine, who is trying to free Latooni from Ouka's grasp. Shine's Fairlion is damaged, but Ouka overdoes using the GEIM System on board her unit, and fries her brain temporarily. Arado also manages to reach Seolla, by mentioning her breasts. Though it might seem things could turn out well, they don't, as Ouka and Seolla are both clawed back by the enemy before they could be brought to safety and a release from their mind control.

Events back at the base are intensifying as well, as Vindel Mauser, the leader of the Shadow Mirror, has finally revealed himself to the EFA forces, and orders them to work for his organization. The goal of Shadow Mirror? To create a world filled with unceasing conflict. Mauser states that destruction leads to new growth and advancement. Not everyone is going for it, however. Daitetsu Minase, the captain of the Hagane for one, argues against Vindel's interpretation of war leading to advancement. For war cannot be measured solely by the results, but must also take into account what is lost. Such a speech is useless for Mauser.

But it does seem to reach someone else. A person you might least expect it to: Lamia. Her time among the humans has changed her, to the point where she can truly think on her own. Moving away from the Hagane, she suddenly swoops down and seizes Mauser's unit, then flying away to attempt to destroy him, and herself, with the Angelg's self-destruct. Unfortunately for all, the explosion only damages Mauser's unit, and he himself survives. But his plan, for the moment, is on hold, as he must retreat, leaving Captain Axel to continue the Shadow Mirror's attempt to takeover Izu Base. But now Nanbu, who does not seem to remember his former life as "Beowulf," moves to intercept Axel. It looks like the opening battle of the show is about to be replayed.

In Summary:
The complications continue. Now, however, it becomes clear who is involved in the Federation coup and takeover. It is not just Graien Grassman. The other side of things is the mysterious "Whiskey Group," who are now revealed to be the Shadow Mirror, the aliens whom we saw battling in the very first episode of the series, who have transported from their own world to Earth now. Their leader, Vindel Mauser, who has been helping the DC behind the scenes as well, announces their intentions: to turn the Earth into their ideal world, a world of unending conflict and war. Not everyone, however, is taken with that idea. We leave with the situation still in flux.
