As predicted, the big screen version of Green Hornet took the #1 spot at the box office this week. The movie raked in about $34 million on almost 3600 screens against relatively weak competition. It almost doubled the take of the weekend's other new movie The Dilemma. Check out Mania's full box office report for details.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Asian superstar Lee Byung-hun is set to reprise his role as Storm Shadow in G.I.Joe 2. Filming on the project is said to commence in June for a summer 2012 release.
If you missed out on the first run of the smash hit comic book TV show, AMC TV is running a Walking Dead marathon starting tomorrow night. On Tuesday, January 18 at 8/7c, AMC will air episodes one through three. Then on Wednesday night at the same time they'll air the remaining three episodes. This is your chance to see what all the buzz is about.
With Walking Dead breaking out for AMC, you'd think FX would be fast-tracking their adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's comic Powers. At the recent TCA presentation, the network's president John Landgraf had little new to tell IGN, but did say the project has, "a lot of momentum."
He did note that the two comics are completely different than one another and then gave a progress report.
"We're now on our third writer. It's Chic Eglee who worked on The Shield and worked on Dexter and most recently worked on Walking Dead. And I'm really, really excited about it. I mean, it's gotten better all along, but I think we've had some real creative breakthroughs and I think Chic's doing some really exciting work," Landgraf said.
So, there's still no prospective production or air date for the show, but it is making slow progress.
MTV Splash Page has a clip from the (barely) animated Black Panther TV series, which arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. They also chat with Reginald Hudlin, who wrote the comics that the show is drawn from, and developed the series for BET.
Over at EveryEye.it, they've got a new poster for Dylan Dog: Dead of Night. The poster is for Italian audiences. There is still now word on a U.S. distribution deal for the film.

There's been a flurry of cool photos for Marvel movies coming online over the past week.
We already saw the Spider-Man costume last week. Now Superhero Hype has a great set of photos of actor Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy, arriving on the scene in an NYPD helicopter and wearing battle gear. We've got one image here, but click through for the set.

Then Entertainment Weekly provides a new look at Chris Hemsworth as Thor, wearing the scowl of a vain and cruel boy...

Finally, The L.A. Times rolled out a new action photo of the Captain America costume, though there's a weird flatness to the image that makes it look like a terrible composite job.
