After a record setting first season for the Walking Dead when it came to AMC and cable original series in general, a lot of concern came up when it was announced that the writing staff was let go and it seemed like Frank Darabont was going to essentially go without a regular staff of writers since most of that season came from non-staff writers. Deadline Hollywood has the exclusive news that it's all changing now as Glen Mazzara is coming on board as a writing executing producer and will be serving as the shows number two to Frank Darabont. Word is that he's in the process of getting a staff of about five people on board to handle the second season which will run for thirteen episodes compared to the first season of six. Mazzara was one of the freelance writers who worked on the first season of Walking Dead and he's had experience as a showrunner for the second season of Hawthorne and the first season of Crash.
