Just a few weeks after Warner Bros. Pictures officially announced their next Superman---with the casting of Henry Cavill as the title role---Entertainment Weekly is preparing their next cover shoot to hit the market. You guessed it. It's the new Man of Steel, with Cavill gracing the cover. The actor who was once up for the role back before Brandon Routh nabbed the part for Bryan Singer's Superman Return sat down with the popular magazine to discuss his thoughts on officially becoming the iconic superhero.

“All I could think was: Oh, god. They’re going to look at me and go ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance.’ The actor inside me was going: You’re not ready! You’re not ready!” says Cavill.

For his part, director Snyder chimed in with other thoughts:

“He walked out, and no one laughed,” says the director. “Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow.’ Okay: This was Superman.’”

Check out some other thoughts from the upcoming EW issue here.

With a December 2012 release date in mind, director Zack Snyder in charge of bringing the new Superman to cinematic life based on a screenplay by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. His brother, Batman director Christopher Nolan, is on board as producer and is overseeing the development.
