Oscar-winning actor and director Kevin Costner may be jumping back into the world of genre entertainment in a "Super" way. Deadline reports the veteran actor has been listed as a possible addition to Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman, a reboot of sorts under the direction of Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan. While the online trade fell short of telling us which role that Costner is up for in the Man of Steel film, Latino Review is calling it early by reporting he's set to play Jonathan Kent, the hero's adoptive father.

Ever since the average to lackluster results following 1995's Waterworld and 1997's The Postman, Costner has steered clear of the genre landscape we love unless you'd like to count his turn as a serial killer in 2007's Mr. Brooks. By signing on board the fast-tracking WB production, he would be set for his first comic adaptation as well.

With other pivotal roles also in the casting phase, the only confirmed star is Supes himself with Henry Cavill ("The Tudors") set for the title role. Snyder (300, Watchmen) is at the helm, based on a screenplay by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan. His Batman-charged brother, Christopher Nolan, is overseeing the development from a producer's capacity.

What do you think about Costner playing Pa Kent or any other role in the production? Sound off below.
