With only a week to go until we see Ryan Reynolds don the mask and ring we have to ask one question. Will this movie rock or suck? A lot of extra effort went into cleaning up the special effects and that has put us all on the fence. I for one think it will be a lot like Thor. OA and the space scenes will rock, much like Asgard did. Where as the scenes on Earth will be flat. Until that truth is revealed sit back and comment on our 10 Great Green Lantern Figures.

10. Hard Traveling Heroes: Green Lantern Hal Jordan

In 2000 DC Direct released the Hard Traveling Heroes line. It included the Black Canary, Green Arrow and the Green Lantern. The figure is not much on articulation but has the classic appeal.

9. Green Lantern MattyCollector Exclusive

Though it might be an exclusive to the MattyCollector site it still looks like one for the kids. It not only lights up with the power of the Green Lantern it recites the oath as well. This will be probably a great collectible regardless of how cartoony the movie looks.

8. Green Lantern and Zodac 2 Pack

Being both a fan of the Green Lantern and Zodac (who was my all time favorite Masters of the Universe figure) this 2 pack is a no brainer. I missed out on the original run of the Zodac figures from MattyCollector (see column) and my original GL figure needs an upgrade. Now if only I could find these two guys somewhere.

7. Red Son: Green Lantern

Despite how cool looking this figure is I still feel sorry for this Green Lantern. He never really stood a chance against a communist Superman. DC Direct brought this entire comic to life with these figures. This is a must have.

6. Green Lantern: Series 1: Kilowog

Here is Kilowog back from the dead in all his glory. In searching for 10 great figures this one kept coming up again and again. It is hard to deny the sheer awesomeness of Kilowog. This one also buries the movie version, which paints him as a lumpy Shar Pei.

5. Emerald Twilight Parallax

Okay, so Hal Jordon went mad for a while. He did redeem himself in the end though. This figure from the Total Justice line by Kenner is all about one thing… the cape. Damn.

4. Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern

Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern, by DC Direct is sweet. There are a few other renditions of Alan Scott’s Green Lantern out there but this is easiest, best and most affordable. Just search for Alex Ross’ Justice Society of America figure.

3. DC Direct Blackest Night Action Figures

These fully articulated DC Direct action figures feature Hal Jordan not only as a Green Lantern, but as a member of the Red, Orange, Blue, and Yellow Corps as well. These were available at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con. Each figure came with its own lantern and a wearable power ring customized to specifications of each Corps.

2. Green Lantern Super Powers Collection

The Super Friends had been on forever in syndication. Thankfully a new series called the Super Powers brought new characters to the series and toys. This Green Lantern pointed his ring at you. Well, when you squeezed his feet together. Back in the day this made our Star Wars figures seem dull.

1. DC Direct Deluxe Green Lantern Corps

Green Lantern Toys You Must Buy

Part of DC Direct’s 13" Deluxe series. It is actually 1:6 the scale of a real Hal Jordon, if there ever was one. In this set you got Hal Jordon, Abin Sur (red head), Tomar Re (bird beak), and a new character, NautKeLoi (fish dude). It retailed at $90 originally. I was fortunate enough to get for one $14.99 when a Suncoast Video was closing. Some days it pays to be the Toy Maniac. The Deluxe Green Lantern Corps are bouncing around on eBay for under $90.
