Just two weeks after the Vancouver Sun revealed that The Wolverine would launch production in their city sometime between this winter and next March, Variety reports that Mark Bomback has been brought in for some rewrites of the fast-tracking sequel to the Marvel superhero.

Mark would be touching upon the original screenplay from Christopher McQuarrie, a nice twist for the writer since McQuarrie was brought in over at New Line to rewrite Bomback's treatment of Jack the Giant Killer. Some other writing credits for Mark Bomback include the upcoming Total Recall, Unstoppable, Race to Witch Mountain and Live Free or Die Hard.

With lead star Hugh Jackman producing alongside John Palermo and Lauren Shuler Donner, shooting is scheduled to begin in Toyko and Vancouver early next year once the actor finishes shooting Tom Hooper's Les Miserables for Universal.

Jackman will be reprising the popular character once again under the directing guidance of James Mangold---a reunion after they teamed up for Kate and Leopold---for the sequel which centers in Japan. The story has the Wolverine suffering from amnesia and searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld, finding both love and tragedy. The trade also reveals that the entire cast will be comprised of Japanese and Japanese-American actors except for Jackman and the actor, not yet set, who'll play a newly expanded character named Viper, the Caucasian secretary for Japan's Minister of Justice.
