Nearly two months after Marvel Studios locked down untitled production release dates for May 16, 2014 and June 27, 2014, star Chris Evans has hinted that fans will likely see a Captain America 2 tale striking theaters on one of those weekends. With What's Your Number? and Puncture striking limited theaters over the next few weeks there's been no shortage of catching up with the actor. One who did catch his ear and asked some questions about his superhero future was The Playlist.
In the brief exchange, Evans pointed out that his sequel may be one of those designated for summer 2014.
“They may wait until 2014 until they release the next 'Cap'," he said, "Marvel has a lot of balls in the air. They aren’t going to cannibalize their films.”
He also made clear that fans shouldn't expect him to make cameos in other superhero tales if Marvel and Walt Disney plan to produce a trilogy of Captain America films and a trilogy of The Avengers films. Not unless the studio and actor change their contracts.
“Out of those six films, if I pop up in one of those [other films], it counts as part of the deal," he continued, "So if they needed me in a third 'Cap', and I say, ‘F--k you, give me $30 million,’ well, they want to avoid that.”
If Captain America 2 does indeed get set assigned to the summer 2014 line-up, we still have the other remaining title to speculate on. Feel free to place your theories on that second title down below.
