Two months after reporting that Tom Cruise was circling Doug Liman's All You Need is Kill, Variety has confirmed the veteran actor has agreed to tackle the adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. While the deal hasn't been officially inked as of yet, the trade reveals that Warner Bros. Pictures brought in writer Jody Harold to rewrite Dante Harper's original treatment, aging the title character to fit Cruise's age. This will mark his second role based on a novel series in a row, with the actor currently shooting One Shot for director Joseph Kosinski. Once production finishes on that project, Liman and Cruise will jump into shooting sometime in late 2012.
Plot Concept: There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?
