It would have been a coup if Dark Shadows would have actually beat The Avengers this weekend. That wasn’t going to happen. In all honesty, the only film that probably would have beaten The Avengers comes at the end of the summer, The Dark knight Rises. Now that I have stirred up that hornet’s nest, let’s get on with the Box Office Report.
The Avengers took in $103.2 million this weekend earning it the second highest second weekend ever; placing it ahead of Avatar’s $75.6 million. It took a few other records as well being the fastest movie to earn $300 and $350 million. Not to mention the best 8th, 9th and 10th day grosses. At the rate at which The Avengers is making money it should topple The Dark Knight’s third place record of $533.3 million.
However there is another Box Office Report out there. It is the list of the grosses for The Avengers on a world wide scale. Box Office Mojo is reporting that Joss Whedon’s The Avengers will pass into the legendary 1 Billion Dollar Club. It joins Avatar, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Titanic, Toy Story 3, Alice in Wonderland (yeah, wow), and the last two Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Can The Avengers do it again for a third week in a row? Will the Dark Knight Rises surpass these numbers? Who will be crowned King of the Summer of 2012, Marvel or DC?
Currently The Avengers places 11th on the “All Time World Wide Box Office Record Chart” with $1,002.1 Billion. By next week it could bump one of these films out of the top 10.

This week's genre release is Hasbro’s and Universal Studios Battleship. Can John Carter (Taylor Kitsch) and Rihanna even make a dent in The Avengers’ Box Office take?
