Print Complete Hammer House of Horror

Fans of Hammer Films have had great cause to celebrate as of late. The Woman in Black marked a wonderful return to their gothic stylings, mixing it with enough modern sensibilities to bring in todays cinematic crowd. With a sequel already announced and two other films beginning production (Gaslight and The Quiet Ones), Hammer’s revival appears to be in full swing. Now comes word that Synapse Films has rummaged through the Hammer vault and is releasing a five disc DVD collection; The Complete Hammer House of Horror.

For those who aren’t familiar, Hammer House of Horror was a thirteen episode, anthology horror series. Broadcast on the ITV Network, the series’ macabre tales featured more acting talent than you could shake a stake at: Peter Cushing, Patricia Quinn, Ian McCulloch, Brian Cox, Kathrun Leigh Scott, Pierce Brosnan, and Denholm Elliot all make appearances. Sadly, it only ran for one season during the fall of 1980.

The full collection of episodes will be joined in this DVD set by a handful of special features, including separate interview with Kathryn Leigh Scott and Mia Nadasi, episode introductions and an animated stills gallery. While it’s a little slim in the extras department, this release is a good sign that we can expect more Hammer home releases in the near future (a region 1 release Complete Hammer collection PLEASE!). The Complete Hammer House of Horror will be available on September 11, with an MSRP of $39.97.
