Supernatural: Whats Up Tiger Mommy Review (

After rescuing the Prophet, Kevin Tran from Crowley last week, Sam and Dean, along with Kevin now embark on a quest to find the tablet which has a spell which can permanently banish all demons from the world.  But of course, such a valuable prize is going to have a lot of people looking for it…Heaven, Hell, and even mythological Gods.  After stopping to pick up Kevin’s mom in Michigan…and off a few demons keeping an eye on her…the guys set about tracking down the tablet.

Alas, someone has got to the tablet before them.  After passing through various hands it ends up in the possession of the mythological Greek God of the Underworld, Pluto.  But Pluto doesn’t want the tablet for himself…as a collector and reseller, he plans to auction the tablet off to the highest bidder.  The bidders will include Crowley, an Angel, and various other demi-gods and supernatural entities.  Besides the tablet, other items up for bid include Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor.

This episode included the witty brand of humor that makes Supernatural so good when it isn’t all tied up in angst between Sam and Dean.  As Sam, Dean, Kevin, and Kevin’s mom pool their money for the auction (including Mom’s Costco membership card), Crowley starts the bidding at three BILLION dollars.  But Kevin’s mom counters with the thing that is most valuable to her, her very soul!  In addition to this main plot, we also get more flashbacks to Dean’s time in Purgatory as we begin to find out how he and the vampire Benny came together and what happened to Castiel.

As mentioned, thankfully the brother-on-brother anger of last week is nowhere to be seen this week although from the preview of next week’s ep it looks like it won’t be a long absence.  This is a road that has been traveled too many times over the years and considering Producer Jeremy Carver wants to run the show through ten seasons, he needs to find another plot device because this one is played out.

But this episode had many of the elements that makes the show fun…humor, eccentric, larger than life characters that let the Winchesters know they are in way over their heads.  I also hope Kevin stays around as the new third wheel since Bobby is gone.  He’s developing nicely as a supporting player.
