We’ve got some bad news and some good news here at Mania. Sony Pictures has pushed back the remake of RoboCop to February 7th, 2014. The other bad news is that Neil Blomkamp’s Elysium has slid into its August 9th, 2013 release date. Why is that a bad thing? The Sci-Fi picture starring Matt Damon and Jodi Foster originally had a March 1st, 2013 release date. So we have to wait for the follow up from the director of District 9

The good news is RoboCop will get more spit and polish before its release date. It also means that Elysium may be strong enough to tackle the final summer releases.

The flip side to the whole story is that both movies aren’t that good and both need re-tooling.

Only time will tell.

RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Keaton, Jay Baruchel, Michael K. Williams. The film is directed by José Padilha.

Elysium stars Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, Diego Luna. The film is directed by Neill Blomkamp.

Thanks to DarthoftheDead for the submission.
