A week or so ago we had a Zach Snyder Seven Samurai-Star Wars film. Well we all know that rumor was shot down. Now Harry Knowles over at Ain’t Cool News is reporting rumors that a Yoda movie might be the first Star Wars stand alone film.

“The first Stand Alone film is going to center upon YODA.  At this stage specifics are sparse, but Kathleen Kennedy is putting together a STAR WARS slate...  I'm wildly curious for more details on the YODA film - would this be a young or old YODA tale?” - Harry Knowles (read the full post here)

Now this might make sense. To start off with the likes of Boba Fett maybe both difficult and confusing. Would Boba Fett be played by Temuera Morrison or Daniel Logan? Could either carry a film? The studio might want to recast, which would mean never removing his helmet.

By starting out with Yoda, we have our heroic Jedi and a character that can be both a puppet and or CGI. Frank Oz played Yoda in 5 of the Star Wars films, but Tom Kane makes a pretty convincing Yoda on The Clone Wars. Either actor would work in the role.

Yoda is both widely popular with the kids and the fanboys. If this rumor is true, it might be the right step in a stand alone picture for the Star Wars Universe.
