With a name a change and a CGI heavy effects trailer, Jack the Giant Slayer took home the weekend box office. What is worth noting is the weekend total in relation to the over budget. Jack made $28,000,000+ yet had a budget of $195 million. That’s not so great considering word of mouth on the film has been ok, not “must see”. In short, anyone who wanted to see the film has. Next weekend look for Jack to fall far from his beanstalk.

Ray Subers of Box Office Mojo had this to report: Jack's audience was 55 percent male and 56 percent over the age of 25, which suggests that families didn't make up a large portion of the crowds. They awarded the movie a solid "B+" CinemaScore, which improved to an "A" among the under-18 crowd. Warner Bros. reported that IMAX showings accounted for 12 percent of the gross, though they did not report a 3D share.”
