Mania Box Office Report: The Kaiju and Jaegar Fall (Mania.com)

Perhaps I was just incredibly naive. Perhaps I’ve even lost touch with the common man. Never did I think that a giant robot vs. giant monster movie, in the summer, would lose to an Adam Sandler movie. Maybe back in the nineties, but not now.

When I saw Pacific Rim, on Friday, my first thought was about Godzilla. The new Gareth Edwards film that arrives next summer. Guillermo Del Toro delivered at least 6 Kaiju and 4 giant Jaegers to boot in his film. As far as we know, Edwards is going to deliver one monster and no giant robot to battle it. With Pacific Rim’s box office take not being so vast, perhaps Godzilla has nothing to fear after all.

What are your thoughts on the film and the impact it will have on Godzilla 2014? Will name recognition make all the difference? Did you think the Minions would rule the box office again?

So what will it be Maniacs? The Conjuring? Red 2? R.I.P.D.? All three? Can anyone or anything beat the Minions?
